It's possible that Arky, Ole Miss and Tulane would list us as THEIR #1 rivals, but we don't reciprocate. We think, Bama, AU or UF are our biggest, but they all have other teams that are much bigger rivals to them than us.

I hate Bama more than anyone else, but Auburn's our biggest rival right now because there's always more on the line that game.

I could care less about worthless ole miss, they're irrelevant.

Arky fans HATE us, but i could care less about them as well.

Arky's big rival is still Texas.
Ole Miss might, but again, they have MSU.
Tulane jsut hates us, I think.

In my home its Mississippi State since my wife is a grad. I can remember watching the 2000 game in separate rooms rather than antagonize each other. Its easier for both of us when the games are lopsided like 2007.

One of the main rivalries for the Arkansas Razorbacks is against the Longhorns of the University of Texas, although today the Longhorns have several other rivalries that they consider more important - notably Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Texas leads the series in football, while Arkansas holds the series lead in basketball. For Arkansas, the rivalry is an emotional experience and Arkansas fans and media go into a frenzy when the two teams play in any sport. The emotional intensity from the Arkansas side in these games overwhelms and bewilders Texas fans at times, including the 2000 Cotton Bowl, where Arkansas fans outnumbered Texas fans by almost 2 to 1 in Dallas. The Razorbacks won that game, 27-6.

Even though they play in different conferences, they were part of the same "old" southwestern conference befor ejoining the SEC. There are still plenty of older fans that consider them their sworn enemy. Plus, they play them this year, and it should be a good game.

BAMA, always has been, always will be. Just because Ole Piss used to be never meant that Bama was not a rival. Those cocksuckers beat us ten times in a row at one point, so i do not feel the slighest bit of sympathy for them now that we have beaten them 5 times in a row. Hell, at one time we could not beat Bama at home over a 30 year span! from 69 to 99. That is fifteen games we either lost or tied at home over the course of 30 years. Sure Aubuen is tough every year and that game is usually who determines who goes to atlanta but Bama is our biggest rival.

Not to mention the severe envy that Arkansas fans harbor toward Texas... Texas holds a 55-21-0 edge in that series! To put that in a bit of perspective, SMU trails Texas by only 47-22-4.

To Texas fans, Arkansas is just a minor annoyance. If they live anywhere south of I-30, they don't even consider Arkansas any bit of a rival.

To me, it is rather sad that Arkansas desperately tries to hang on to this rivalry, while Texas has clearly moved on. Texas' list of rivals would be A&M, OU, Texas Tech, then maybe some teams from the north, like Colorado, then maybe Arkansas. I am of the opinion that Arkansas fans should go ahead and move past that and direct some real hate and envy towards a more natural rival - LSU.

Really? Last I checked Texas was in the Big 12 and doesn't play Arkansas except on rare occasions.

Arkie's rivalry will be LSU. Bank on it.

Arky fans hate them. Not sure why. They hardly play them and won't play them very often in the future.

Arkansas' relation with Texas is much the same as LSU and Alabama. Except Arkansas was not as close in quality to Texas as LSU has been. Arkansas perceives themselves a football power and in order to truly become one they had to knock off Texas.

Now, in the SEC, they have rarely seriously competed for the championship. Sure they have been to the SEC CG but at least twice of those can be considered to have been backed in to. Therefore, their fan base never fully released the notion that Texas was the big bad bully, because they never faced down the bullies of the SEC. So they are now stuck in 1991.

That's just my theory.

To me, a team becomes a rival not because they are highly ranked, but because, over time, over games year after year, you get a feeling in your gut (beyond the usual feeling) when you play that team. Thus, for instance, my puritanical mother would rather spit than have me date an Ole Miss Rebel. Whether Ole Miss is good or bad is not the issue. They are the Rebels; we are the Tigers; enough said.

I also would not discount Tulane just because they haven't had a good team in a while. We've played them a bunch of times, and had an interstate rivalry with them.

But on par with Ole Miss, I would place Bama. That's always a big game no matter who's ranked and who's not.

My personal feeling: Florida. I hate Florida so much that I also hate Florida State and Miami, just because of proximity.

I think the general concensus is that Bama will end up being one of our biggest rivals because of Saban.

Yep. As long as he is there.

For me, our biggest rivals will always be Ole Miss and Tulane. But I'm an older Ranter, and many of us feel that way. NOT to say I don't really hate Auburn. They really burn my grease. But I would always hope to beat Ole Miss' and Tulane's asses good, no matter what.

In my opinion the LSU/Ole Miss "rivalry" is hanging on by a thread. The old timers still think it's a big deal, but it's becoming less and less meaningful to the younger generations. Like me. I'm a 29 year old LSU grad, and I had literally no idea that OM was supposed to be our rival until about 10 years ago when I asked my Dad if we had a rival. I thought he was joking when he said Ole Miss. I personally feel about OM the same way I do about MSU, Arkansas, UK, etc...ambivalent. When I was at LSU there was no buzz around campus when we played Ole Miss, whereas when we played UF or Auburn that was all any one could talk about. I think the LSU/Ole Miss "rivalry" will die off in the next 20 years when my generation has kids entering LSU. Because when my kids ask me who our rival is I'll tell them the truth...we don't have one.
