Since I already did a thread on 2WD vs 4WD Let's assume I go with the 4WD, what truck should I get and why? Or you can say which one to stay away from and why. Also if there is a certain trim you recommend. I can go into things I want, but I would rather hear opinions first. Let's set the top end of the price range to $50k just to have a benchmark.

I'm still going to test drive a bunch of stuff, but this is something to look forward to instead of hearing about the 'Rona.

Full Size
Chevy Silverado 1500
GMC Sierra 1500
Ford F150
RAM 1500
Toyota Tundra
Nissan Titan

Mid Size
Chevy Colorado
Toyota Tacoma
Honda Ridgeline (I know it isn't true 4WD)
GMC Canyon
Ford Ranger
Jeep Gladiator
Nissan Frontier

If I missed any feel free to post it and I will add it to the list.

I'm not going to try and tell you which one to buy but I'm on my 3rd F150 (2010, 14, and 18). All were bought new and only one ever saw the shop for anything I would consider "abnormal". I did replace batteries, brakes, and tires but nothing else went wrong with the exception of the 2010 transmission. On cold mornings it wouldn't go into reverse for 5 seconds and they fixed it under warranty, that was the only abnormal repair I've had.

The 2010 (5.4) and 14 (3.5EB) went to 140k miles and I wouldn't have been afraid to drive either one double of that.

Since the first time I rode in a Sierra, I have always wanted one. However, the Toyotas are more reliable and will have better resale.

I just bought a Sierra Crew Cab Elevation X31. I like the look of the Sierra over the other trucks. I wanted a 4x4 that could tow a good bit. Nice upgrade for me!

I had an 06 Sierra Crew Cab and it was great. If it was 4x4, I would have kept driving it with a 175k plus miles.

Been looking pretty hard. Like the 2020 Ram. They are all offering zero interest but if you go that route they won’t give you the rebates

Sierra, Ram, or Tacoma.

I bought a Sierra SLT. Like the truck, lots of interior space and hauling capacity. I was between a Sierra and a Tacoma. Ultimately got the Sierra for the same price as the Tacoma and much prefer the full size truck.

Ram is supposedly awesome inside, and I like the exterior. I’ve been burned by dodges in the past so never really considered it.

F150 is an awesome truck as well.

If I could do it again, I’d probably get a Sierra AT4, but they are mighty expensive.

I traded in my 15 Ram for a 2020 Tundra. I got just the SR5 with the Blacked Out package. I plan on keeping it a while and didn't want a lot of tech. I'm kind of Old School.

1985 GMC 1/2 ton SWB 4wd, manual trans, fuel injected, totally restored with new 350 crate engine. Maybe add rear disc brakes, probably upgrade the seat. Profit.

Probable purchase price, less than anything you listed. Much lower maint. cost than anything you listed.
Ideally, you want the top loader 3 speed trans with dog gear( some people call it granny low).
If you want better fuel mileage, then a 5speed o/d trans is fine too.

Was truck shopping last April and went with the Ram. A year later, still happy I made that decision.

99/00 7.3 ford 2500 6spd manual or auto excursion
03-04 5.9 6spd manual
06/07 Allison transmission

Any bulletproofed diesel that newer as long as it was owned by a Grandpa and not all jacked up by some kid

IMHO, If you plan to keep this vehicle 10+ years, 200K + miles, and value reliability over style and gadgets, purchase a Tundra or Tacoma. If however you purchase a new vehicle every 4 to 5 years or at 100K miles, buy what ever you like best.

I bought a leftover '19 F150 Lariat Sport Supercrew 4x4 a few weeks ago. Absolutely love this truck. I loved my previous F150s (2004 & 2006), but this thing is friggin nice. It's got the 5.0 V8. Quick, smooth, and I couldn't pass up the deal with trading in my 4Runner. Check with Courtesy in Breaux Bridge. The sales folks were awesome. I basically bought the truck online.

You can turn off the Auto Start/Stop with Forscan. I've been playing around with the software and it's really easy to do. I personally haven't turned it off as it doesn't bother me to hit the button or just drive in Sport mode.
