I'm not making light of the abilities of our WR's at LSU. God knows that for the last several years, we have had some great WR's, from Michael Clayton to Josh Reed, and Bowe to Doucet, but I can't remember a time when we were so loaded at WR.

None of talking heads are looking at our WR unit as a top ten unit. They all say that we have a lot of talent, but stop short of full support.

I look at D. Byrd, who can fly, and catches everything, and ask..."Who can cover this guy?"

Brandon Lafelle had some issues last year, but I remember when Bowe and Early Doucet dropped some easy passes as youngsters too. LAFELLE IS ALWAYS OPEN!!!

Terrance Tolliver will probably be #3. He is an all around good WR. Great hands, blocks extremely well, and has great speed.

I hate to jinx us, but we have a better shot this year than most folks think!!

Couldn't agree more! We are still loaded everywhere! Could easily be back in the BCSNCG!

You can throw Richard Murphy in that mix, too, because he's going to be getting some catches out of the backfield, and he's going to be flying around with that ball.

TT has the potential to be the best receiver on the roster

+1000

And his hands improved tremendously as the season went along. IMO, his drops were more nerve related than poor hand eye (Not ready to be the #1 when ED went down).

It was a confidence issue...that seems fixed

he has 1st or 2nd round written all over him

Byrd is going to be 1st round

TT will be the man next year

We need to sign some time recruits this year!

Losing Brown and Benton is going to hurt at some point...maybe not if we recover quickly this year..BTW who are looking at at WR this year?

Sorry, but I seem to have mis-placed my Cap'n Crunch secret decoder ring.

I wasn't able to decipher.

PS...Trindon Holliday will also log some time at WR. Probably on end arounds, and as a decoy, but get the ball in his hands, and he could score at any time.

This position is probably the deepest on the team. We are in very good shape here.

Don't forget THE speedster Trindon Holliday. He's a fair bit shorter than the CBs of this day and age, but when you can just run past them, who needs height?

The only problem is that Trindon might wind up outrunning the pass

I'll put LSU's receiving corps against anyone's in the country. Just too many weapons. (I never get tired of saying that.)

I love our current wideouts but I don't think this year is better than 06 with Bowe, Davis, and Doucet.

definitely not yet, but by the end of this season, or maybe next season (assuming they all stay) ridiculous.

we might not have anyone to get these guys the ball. we have ZERO experience at QB. But I know the rant thinks experience is overrated.

I believe this is a very good point.

If Hatch or Lee or Jefferson cannot get the ball out to these guys it will not matter one bit how awesome they are. I think that teams will stack the box heavy with 8+ guys early in the season to stop our stable of runners.

Our QBs will need to get some experience and confidence quickly in the first three games because I think the Auburn game will be a track meet. The no-huddle will wear down our defense (especially or LBs where we are not very deep) and they will score some points. We will need to keep the ball away from their offense and rest our defense all the while making sure we score points.

I agree that our WRs are among the best in the nation, they just may not get much of a chance to show it.
