Here is his initial tweet:

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
As usual with “this” General Motors, things just never seem to work out. They said they were going to give us 40,000 much needed Ventilators, “very quickly”. Now they are saying it will only be 6000, in late April, and they want top dollar. Always a mess with Mary B. Invoke “P”.

I'm shocked gm could even get through the hurdles and retooling to produce a ventilator that would pass the FDA in two months.

Will be shocked if they delivery any ventilators by end of summer.

Masks and face shields they can probably do

Meh, Trump’s not my favorite character. I really have no favorites at this point in time, but it sounded more like a plea than a directive. Maybe we should take it down a notch on this one in order to give teeth to those things he should be incriminated on, and actually means something.

Don’t pretzel logic it. A private business can make whatever declarations it wants. Let the shareholders deal with that. Not the government.

The government can absolutely criticize a firm in the market.

It isn’t pretzeling logic.

You were disingenuous by not including the entire situation/statement.

Why did you do that?

They made a statement for PR benefit then backed out of it privately.

No issue with him calling them out publicly for that.

Also, actual “big government” is the enactment of the Defense Production Act, which is likely coming down the pipeline.

How about you put tweet 1 of 2 up also instead of just 2 of 2.

Seems there is also some frustrations after Ford and GM initially stated that they would be able to produce 40,000 ventilators “quickly” and that has switched to “6000 by the end of April” along with reports of increased price.

Ford here is also under pressure to stay closed for a couple of weeks since they have workers that have tested positive for COVID-19 at the truck plant.

Trump is a modern conservative, baw. the democrats of the 80's and 90's (such as Trump was) dont exist anymore. Modern conservatives are yesterday's moderates. The avg conservative republican today is less conservative than 80's moderate dems. maybe you kiddos will figure it out some day.

It seems a bit odd to be so reliant upon an auto manufacturer for production of medical equipment. What could go wrong?
Recalls are incoming....

The government or leader here isn’t just criticizing the company he’s demanding the company do something. He might as well yell at Warner Bros for not releasing the Snyder cut. Or at Audi for not giving us an A6 Avant in the US. He’s trying to force corporate policy.

Pretty sure that Trump was a lifelong Republican who switched to Democrat during Bush Jr's presidency, then switched back.

He’s calling a car company out for not making ventilators. The most important part of the tweet is he telling them to DO something.

Trump needs to make up his mind. Is this serious or not?

Trump told Hannity: “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You go into major hospitals sometimes, and they’ll have two ventilators. And now all of a sudden they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?’”

Well, he is likely about to legally force them to do something with the DPA, an act which is fully legal.

Again, why did you ignore the entire first tweet?

He's too simple minded and emotionally reactionary to commit to a single ideology of any kind. He's pro-whatever-benefits-him in the moment.
