That would be the only way to prevent/contain it. Outside of that, its just being prepared to respond and providing all the info to the public and healthcare workers on how to minimize its impact.

If we locked China out every time this happened swiftly then it would stop happening. They would clean up these markets, etc. The way we coddle them they have no reason to stop.

You want to blame dirty markets, but they don’t think the index case started there. They just went there and infected others. Likely from the farm the food was coming from.
You might as well ask countries to pave over all rural areas and outlaw poverty.

Unsanitary conditions in parts of China, and other places, are often due to poverty. If they had a choice of porterhouse steak vs bat soup, there probably wouldn't be much demand for bat soup. "Cleaning up these markets" would mean further compromising their food supply.
Partial blame to the Chinese govt for those squalid conditions, of course, but stay tuned because our govt is capable of achieving the same result.
