We used to play Tulane the last game of every season. Tulane was in the SEC. Their program languished, then surged again, then slid. The games got rougher--ie., fights. In one game the action stopped as the entire south end of the field was full of fights and brawls. It went on forever until police and coaches got order. After that LSU got less enthused with the game and then dropped Tulane.

The game-ending brawls were not just a recent phenomenon. My late uncle who played for Tulane in the 1930's used to tell me stories--with a big grin on his face--of similar endings to their games back then.
