Bolsano Italy is one of my favorite places that nobody has ever heard of.

Beynac in the Dordogne is just one of many charming villages in that region of France.

Couldn’t agree more Bolsano is awesome. The whole South Tirol region is great.

I've always wanted to go there. How did you get there? Did you stay overnight? Other thoughts?

I'm not sure if it was qualify as a "village", but I was blown away by Nimes in France. Tons of Roman ruins and beautiful parks.

I worked in Aigues-Mortes for a while and really enjoyed the area. It was nice being away from the larger tourist market and observing the French way of life. A lot of French families vacation in the Camargue and La Grande Motte during the summer but not a lot of tourists. Nimes is a great town and I really love Montpelier as well.

We will be staying in Bolzano for a few nights before doing a road trip in Slovenia. Would love any tips that you have for that area.

The town square is really cool (Walther Square). Typical European city structure where everything revolves around that area. I'd try to stay around there. Bunch of restaurants and bars on or right off the square. The train stop is really easy to come and go from.
The Iceman Museum is awesome. Lots of good places to hike around the Bolzano area. There's a castle I thought was a great tour but have since forgotten the name. We were there in the summer but from what I hear it's a great place to be around Christmas and has a cool Christmas market.
Really the thing I enjoyed most was the town square and the traditional European feel to the city. Friendly people too.
