Ppl will say it doesn’t matter, but I think it can. Playoff committee makes some subjective decisions.

I do agree that it will all play out, but OP has a point. No argument whether you focus on this year or last.

This literally has NOTHING to do with this year. Stop saying this shite.

You could not be more incorrect. Why do you think Bama and Clemson are the top two? It’s because of what they did last year (and the years before).

They’re ranked ahead of LSU because they play in the sissy arse East.

What does beating Georgia last year have to do with this year? Last year has absolutely nothing to do with this year.

Attrition & returning players + coaches play heavily into early rankings, so... a fair amount.

In this particular scenario, making that argument looks even sillier than normal because LSU & Auburn have the two best wins of the season so far... meanwhile UGA hasn’t done jack but will get a bump for beating the perennially overrated Fighting Irish.

Pick one. Either last year doesn’t matter or it does. If it doesn’t, LSU is 1 & Auburn is 2. (Hint: last year matters in early season rankings... early season rankings can affect late season rankings... last year matters)

And we just beat a top10 team on the road, the same team that beat Georgia last year

OP is right but this isn't important right now. Playoff ranking if out today would likely have LSU ahead of UGA, but even if that wasn't the case LSU controls their destiny to overtake UGA.

Just to be safe we may want to root for Notre Dame next week though. SEC may get 2 teams in but not 3. LSU at 11-1 may get in, but not if UGA is undefeated or has an only L in the SECCG.

no doubt. I don't understand the early season fixation with rankings and "lacks of respect".

It's about positioning... You start behind you may stay behind even if you finish with the same record (say, 11-1). That's why it matters you mentally challenged

wow, way to jump straight to insults.

And you're wrong, btw. There is zero historical evidence where a #6 in Sept lost out on the CFP because they weren't already #4.

Wanna guess where LSU ranked in the first late October BCS rankings in 2003?

15th.
