Flooring Help (Getting it done)

My wife wants to remove the carpet in the bedroom and replace it with either hardwood or ceramic wood look tile.
We got our first quote from empire for engineered hardwood for $2,4000 (they quickly called after and settled on $1,955) to redo the room (moving furniture, taking out old carpet, etc).
The room is roughly 200 square feet and has two doors (hallway and to bathroom. Is that a fair price and have any of you used Empire (I am in New Orleans) before? We are getting a quote today from a local company (Flooring Showcase in Chalmette).

I think it is. If that's for material cost, removal of old carpet and install of new flooring.

The cost of engineered hardwood could run from $2/sf to $12/sf. Based on the info you’re giving us, no one could answer that. Also, is it floating, glue down, nail down?

Does that price include shoe molding and painting of the shoe and baseboards?

I've been looking into prices for new flooring (removal of old and installation of new), and from what I've seen you can typically expect $8-$12/sq ft.

Yes. My local shop quoted 1,750 for ceramic wood look tile.

We had ours done in Jan. We went with hardwood that matched the rest of the house.
I removed the carpet and put down the shoe molding and painted it.
Our master is 279 sq ft. It was $3800

Go check out Integrity in Kenner and see what they would charge.

You have a loaded question. Materials price varies, install price varies a lot less than materials. Get all your quotes broken down like that.
I am a contractor and I can provide almost identical materials, different manufacturers for half or double the price, so install is where you determine pricing.
12/sqft should be around 7-8/sqft material.
