I’d rather watch paint dry than watch baseball outside of the World Series Finals / College WS

Seeing more home runs won’t change that either

This would be significant, if every other spectator sport wasn't suffering similar phenomenon. It's the technology you old farts. Not the evolution (for good or bad) of the game.

Sounds like maddon needs to coach his team differently outside of the 2016 cubs the WS champions going back to the royals were all among the top 3 in fewest strike outs. The poster child for new wave analytics are the Astros who made a concerted effort to get more balls in play and less Ks after 2016.

Chicks dig the long ball and MLB juiced the baseballs? When the only highlights you see of MLB is only home runs that shite gets old IMO.

Please don’t compare MLB and football.

Exactly. Teams didn't just decide one day to change the approach. It's analytics. Data showed teams what the smart play was, shifts, launch angle, "selective aggressive etc. The managers holding out on the change eventually folded and it's what you've got today. Basketball is seeing the same thing with the 3 but purists blame the ref and soft players. Just wait until coaches abandon the run and go for it every fourth down.

I agree with them.

I can’t stand watching 800 strikeouts and lazy fly outs a game all for a guy to try and drop bombs with every swing of the bat. With the way the game is played now, I doubt we ever see anybody come close to even sniffing Rose’s record.

Weren't they just bitching Joe Maddon and Co. were ruining the game with the shift?

Teams: finally decide to play the game in the smartest and most efficient way possible

Some people: we want them to play inefficiently and not the best way possible

Nobody will sniff it but not because of HR’s......because you would have to average 200 hits a season for over 20 years

More efficient doesn’t make it more entertaining.

Teams aren't going to change because analytics show this is how you win baseball games now.

But more walks, K's, and homers definitely makes the game more monotonous in general.

The issue with baseball is that everybody plays the same way which makes the game boring. Teams have twice as many HRs as they have stolen bases each of the past four years. And this year, there's actually 3x as many HRs as there are stolen bases. In the '80s and early '90s, the ratio was pretty much 1:1 in terms of HRs to stolen bases with many years when there were actually more SBs than HRs. And even during the mid to late '90s, there were only about 50% more HRs than SBs. The game was much more interesting to watch with a lot more variety back then.
