In my opinion a 2gig or Qolsys system monitored by alarm dot com is way better than anything else on the market. Their panels, peripherals, performance, reliability, smart home control, software, and back end are top tier. Yeah you are going to pay more than $10 a month but you can find deals better than $40 a month. It's a premium service you don't have to worry about the cloud services going away like other automation hubs. You can go the DIY route or have it done by a dealer who can warranty and service it. Sure this is not for everyone but for the home owner that wants a quality security system with smart home control that just works all the time than this is a fine option.

Ring makes good products. I have multiple cameras, pay for their service, even given their products 5 star reviews on Amazon in exchange for free product, but the alarm feels more like a toy to me. Id buy it over Nest. I'm sure it will get there one day as Amazon continues to take over the world.

I actually just came from a 2gig/alarm.com/brinks service. The panel is 100% better on the 2gig but the panel doesn't make the system. It's just a hub you arm stuff with. The ring has cellular backup with monitoring. The integration with Alexa makes the ring better IMO on ease of use and actually arming it more frequently.

I can also customize each sensor where the 2gig I could not.

My neighbor actually had the same system and he tested it 3 times by tripping it and seeing if anyone called. Nobody did 3 times and he cancelled. That's on the monitoring though not the system.
