The only problem is Mulkey makes $2 mil a year and just won the National Championship, meaning she’s getting a raise.
Look, I like Mulkey as well, but there is no way you can justify paying your Women’s Basketball Coach $2.5-&3 mil a year. Hell Will Wade only makes $2.5 a year and the men’s basketball program doesn’t hemorrhage money, it turns a profit.

I’m sorry, but Women’s Basketball will never turn a profit. It just won’t. The same reason WNBA will never make as much money as the NBA. Just from a basic economic standpoint it would not be a smart move. There has to be a solid ROI.

I’d rather LSU hire 20 more analysts for football than throw upwards of $3 mil at a Women’s Basketball Coach.

I agree the $3mil mark won’t happen... here, or at Baylor. In 2019.

I could see LSU paying $1.5-$2mil for Mulkey though with some huge incentives for titles, which would inevitably be the piece that brings the bigger program revenue.

If Wade makes the tournament next year he'll make $3 million at LSU, easy. And he'll make the tournament next year. Book that.

Don't forget that LSU has a $1.5 billion capital campaign in the works, $600 million of which is supposed to come from TAF. You go get Kim Mulkey and enlist her in hitting up donors for that money and she will more than pay for herself in dragging that donor cash in here - particularly compared to what you'd get from Nikki Fargas who decamps for Los Angeles as soon as her season is over and can barely be counted on to do so much as recruit.

The Joe Alleva mentality says "No, this isn't worth our effort." Getting Scott Woodward in here means the Joe Alleva mentality is over. If you have somebody who's a Louisiana legend at Freaking Baylor, the Scott Woodward mentality says that you go and get her in here.

She's from Tangipahoa Parish, for Chrissake. Where is the governor, who can't shut up about what a big LSU guy he is, from?

Hire 20 more analysts for football? Nah, I'd rather they hire a great women's basketball coach. We already spend more than enough for football to be successful. If they can't make it on what they're already generating, then 20 more analysts ain't makin' a difference. However, hiring someone like Mulkey (who I insist will NEVER come to LSU), will make a HUGE difference in the women's basketball program in terms of interest, and revenue. Only thing is, as has been stated, she was making around $2 million a year at the end of this past season. Considering she just won the NCAA tournament, you figure she's gonna get a raise to what................? $2.2 to 2.3 million? I'm not sure LSU will be willing to go that high for a coach. We'll see.........................
