Dj is in his 9th season

Bregs is in his 4th season

Bregs already has an offensive WAR 3 points higher

Exactly. His accomplishments went largely unnoticed out West.

Been with Yankees for 11 games and already being compared to Ted Williams.

Might be my favorite player over the last number of years. I had no doubt he would have a long and successful major league career.

You obviously don't know anything about his career.

All-Star in 2015 and 2017. Gold Gloves in 2014, 2017, and 2018. Finished 15th in NL MVP voting in 2016. Career .300 (exactly) hitter.

Nobody sits a career .300 hitter on the bench. Don’t let them fool you.

I saw him a month ago when the Rays were in town. They do absolutely love him here. Went 2-5 with a HR and RBI

I’ve watched a few games and he always seems to come through when people are on base.
Go Yankees!

I know all about his career. He’s one of my favorite tigers ever.

He wasn’t signed to be a spot player. He was signed to be a regular starter that could play anywhere in the infield.

I live in NY and heard Jim Hendry, who drafted DJ as GM of the Cubs and now works for the Yankees, say exactly that on the radio after DJ signed. They liked the versatility he provided in the infield and the contact he makes at the plate to balance all the strikeouts from their power hitters.

Ugh, my Cubbies traded him for Ian Stewart, who contributed next to nothing in his short stint in Chicago and a reliever who never made the majors.

His .250 average his one stint in the big leagues with the Cubs was better than any season Russell has had in Chi-town.

Sigh.

Look at his OPS+, consistently under 100, which means adjusting for the park and league he played in, he was a below league average in OPS.

I’ll say it again, if Gleyber, Didi and Andujar were all healthy for the whole season, DJ is likely not an everyday starter.
