Haynesville Shale

Was up in Shreveport last week and the talk of the town was the Haynesville Shale gas discovery. Sounds like many folks are receiving large lease bonuses, some as large as $4000 an acre. I heard estimates of $1 billion in lease bonuses being paid over the next year. Will be a great boost to the economy up there.
here's an article on it from the independant: LINK

And the crap about how all the poor, uneducated landowners are being taken advantage of is already coming out.

There was also big news last week about the Tuscalousa Shale, the only oil producing shale in the United States. Encore Acquisitions announced that one of the three wells it has just west of the MS river hit. Shale production is the result of new technology which features horozonal drilling and fracking processes.

I was paid ONLY $460/acre (206) 2 years ago in that area.
ETA : Sorry about that. My land is part of the Cotton Valley Shale.

I know someone on the board of the YMCA in shreveport and was told that they were offered 6000 an acre for the property that camp forbing is on plus royalties. I think they have like 50 acres there so that would be good for them

It is having real affects on real people.
I know a lady that works in a bank in Minden.
Some regular working class guy came in this week and deposited a check for $800,000 from the Hayensville Shale.
That is real money around here. He could do something as simple as put it in a standard savings account and the interest would probably be right around his yearly income and very possibly more.
I think it is a great thing.

My family has about 10-30 acres in Bienville Parish and have been getting natural gas royalties for meany many years.
A land man recently told me to find out who the contracts were with to determine the depth of the rights. He mentioned this because apparently the Haynesville Shale is a lot deeper than other finds up there. He mentioned that some leases only are valid down to a certain depth.
Is Bienville Parish anywhere near the Haynesville Shale and what do you know about the depth issue and contracts?
I'm trying to help my family determine if it's worth looking into. Thanks in advance!
