I remember watching games there. They lay the court on top of the dirt. Also they put wooden walkways going into the locker rooms. As for the smell you just have to deal with it. The smell really wasn’t that bad from what I remember

And other than Alleva being a total tool, why would he say no to a game there?
I believe Alleva's hesitation is the logistics of having a modern game in a facility that hasn't been updated for modern game technology in 40+ years. A lot of it probably has to do with TV and the electronic aspects and he may not see the benefit outweighing the cost of getting it retrofitted for one game.
On the other hand, I think you can sense a little animosity between Wade and the administration. Wade has big dreams and ideas and somewhat mocked the athletic dept on his radio show last night. as being dumb for not considering this idea In fact, he urged fans to email the AD about it.
This could be a pivotal year. If Wade has a really good season, then I think you are going to see him really push the AD to make his grandiose visions happen. If not, he'll start looking for other schools that will be more receptive. In short, he'll start to squeeze Alleva.
However, if this season turns into one of unmet expectations, the Wade may lose some significant leverage.

It's trending in that direction. When Wade starts teaching his team to run an actual offense then we may actually get people to come to the games.

You know how much money you would have to spend to have a game there.
That place is a dump.
From courts to goals, it would cost a fortune.
The PMAC needs work too, I would save that money and put it into the PMAC renovation.

Offense aint the problem brother. I agree it's not always a cohesive thing of beauty, put they can put the ball in the basket...it's stopping the opponent from doing so that is the problem

I think the logistics are just too much of a pain in the arse to make happen. You have to move the court over there, probably have to clear out all the dirt and smell from the livestock shows, wire the place for TV and radio broadcasts, figure out locker room situation, clean the place up, etc. Sounds like way more trouble than it's worth.
You are pretty much correct regardless of what most of these idiots think.

Lol I know...but most people on here can't see past the end of their nose. It isn't as simple as "rent a court, bring the goals over, and roll out some balls"

hell, I enjoyed going to the cow palace in my student days. of course, I got to see the Pistol several times but we also had Jam Jam and concerts there. saw Chicago once and Fabacher beer was free (Jax premier brand). also, had to camp out the night before the Ole Miss game to get in when Pete broke Oscar Robinsons scoring record. great times!

Will wade needs to learn how to politic this. Make it a “fundraiser” game for the cow palace itself or for Pete’s palace or for some “me too” or NBR bs movement that can’t be rejected by the pc administration. Make them an offer they can’t refuse

If they wanted to do something maybe do a purple gold type game scrimmage.

Others have said it, this is something I do not think he expected because he talked about at length when he was hired what all he wanted the administration to do to help the basketball team come into the 21st century which is crazy because this is 2018. Even for a football/baseball school in the south, I think he has been kind of shocked by how amazing our basketball tradition is at how apathetic a majority of the fanbase and administration has been toward building a great base for a basketball "program". Chattanooga they loved bball and VCU especially I think it really has been a struggle for him because being political is not in his nature. I agree it would be better for him to grovel with the AD/powers at be, but he really should not have to, its where we are at though after the past two coaches.
I strongly support anyone that puts forth any idea no matter how ridiculous it sounds to boost the energy in the program. Just a little inside info, what he really truly wants is Alleva to invest in the PMAC and the practice facility which was promised. The scoreboard in the PMAC is basically the only thing he has done. He had to beg to allow a DJ in the student section, seems trivial but thats the dynamic that exists. He is the head coach but is not allowed to put the changes in place he thinks will advance the program.
About 5 or 6 things that needed to have been planned or started like last year:
1) Locker rooms completely re done
2) Practice facility needs massive improving already and its like 3 or 4 years old , whoever designed it is an idiot and really shows how much CJJ let the program go when it came to details he was a glorified cheerleader.
3) Pregame atmosphere and promotion is that of a JV girls basketball game seriously
4) The student section needed to be changed 5-7 years ago.
5) Increase the recruiting budget for assistant coaches, this may not seem like a big deal to some, but we are like 10th in the SEC
6) Im sorry but gymnastics, women's basketball, and even volleyball, again this is from people inside the program, feel like they get more support than men's basketball. Its not sexist to say can a money making sport get the same level of attention that other sports within the same facility get. The gymnastics practice facility is a top level training facility, olympic level, while the basketball facility has fundamental issues.
Not major issues but some others that have been voiced, the promotion of basketball outside the program not just on gamedays is lacking. CWW being forced to schedule in state opponents is a problem, this comes directly from the AD.
My rant sorry for the length of the post

Actually don’t think it would be too difficult to do this. Would need a year to prepare and do any updates.
The basketball court and goals get broken down at least 20 times a year so this could easily be moved with LSU equipment truck. If LSU wanted to go all in, they could do a throwback court.
If Alleva doesn’t want to renovate locker rooms, you can build them out using double wides. Most 3-4 day sporting events use these.
Media/TV normally truck in all their own equipment, so would need to have generators on hand. Would need to get all electrical up to date and install WiFi (if not already available).
I’d imagine there is already ADA seating available in the cow palace.
Aramark would probably need to be covered for concessions.
The build out would take 2-3 weeks to prepare, so January would be optimal time. Doesn’t take away parking $$$ during football season and students would be back on campus.

Its the little things like this that infuriate me with Alleva (just one of many issues) what would be the cost to do this? The reward would be incredible and get older and younger generations greatly involved.
Me too. He has no desire or concept to do anything for tradition or for the fans unless it results in an immediate flow of cash back to the Athletic Department. He also has very little vision in investing back into ourselves for a long term gain.

Part of Glory Road was filmed inside of UNO Lakefront Arena and the Cow Palace. It can definitely be done. Alleva is just lazy. I have a bottle of McCallan 18 waiting to be drank the day he is gone.

PMAC isn’t getting renovated. There are plans to build a new one.

You make it sound like this could all happen with the snap of the fingers and $100. It is not that easy...and the cost and effort needed for a gimmick that would last for 2 hours is not worth it. Spend time and money on something important.

Anybody got pics?

I will not comment on the opinions listed, but I would suggest that you get facts straight. The basketball practice facility was opened in 2010. That's more than double the 3 or 4 years listed in your post.
