Then why did he risk playing this year at all?

Just curious, what percentage of the last 50 Top5 picks sat out the bowl game?

I know a projected top 3 pick who went 34th after tearing his ACL in the 2016 Fiesta bowl...

There is logic and merit to your point of view.

That said, the decision sucks. There’s a reason you don’t see most Top5 picks sit out the bowl game ... because it’s a bad look.

True. And it would be enough for him to be set for life.

But he'd also miss out on playing in the NFL.

Logically, I get it but where do you draw the line? If you’re that worried about getting injured, are you going to stop riding in cars? Ask Chad Jones how one car accident can derail your career.

I know he has a daughter and I said I agree that he is making the right decision overall. You know how many NFL players would give their left nut to experience one more college game with their team. I have a very close friend that plays for the Ravens and he tells me all the time that it just isn't the same and a lot of players realize its a job and a business and get a reality check because of it.

It hurts because of the status of Fulton and Kelvin Joseph.
If those two were able to suit up, this is not as big of a blow seeing that one of these two and/or Stingley would be starting next season in all likelihood.

Yeah, good for him. Bad for LSU, bad for his teammates. bad for his coach. Bad for everyone. Except Greedy. Good for him.

He’s already lost stock in my mind. He’s not as low as Eric Reed, but he’s no PP7.

A bowl win is critical for this program.

That’s an old narrative that is no longer true. “Helpful”, sure. But “critical”, not at all. These have become exhibition games that have zero impact on recruiting or even next season momentum.

Most guys seem to worry about picking up a nagging injury that affects draft preparation which could cause a guy to fall and cost them money.

The goal is to get to the NFL I bet if you ask the locker room most of not all would support him.

What are the scholarship obligations? Seems like this should be covered before the situation arises.

Kinda like any contract...

Lol. Ok. Bowl wins are pointless, bowl losses aren’t damaging in any way and have “ zero impact “ . Got it.
