BRUSLY, LA (WAFB) - Newly leaked video footage of an incident in October at Brusly Middle School shows a police officer wrestling with a student and slamming him to the ground twice as school staff members nervously look on. During the altercation, the officer says the student tried to grab the officer’s gun, two sources say. The incident occurred the morning of Oct. 5 in the main office at Brusly Middle School.

The footage was sent to WAFB from an anonymous source. The footage shows a young male student, believed to be 14-years-old, walk into the office and approach the desk where staff members appear to help him make a phone call. Sources familiar with the case say the student had just gotten into a verbal argument with the school’s vice principal and was in the office to call his grandmother to come pick him up.

About 15 seconds later, Brusly Police Officer Anthony “Kip” Dupre enters and begins saying something to the teen and pointing at him. No audio was recorded, so it’s unclear what was said. The boy remains standing in the same spot until it appears he no longer wants to make the phone call. He steps away from the desk and walks toward the exit.

The officer, who towers over the teen at about twice his size, steps toward the kid, puts him in a rear choke hold, and slams him to the ground. Once on the ground, the scuffle is mostly obscured from the camera, but the officer can be seen placing his eyeglasses on top the desk as he wrestles the student for nearly a minute. At one point, the officer’s right arm and shoulder are seen making forcible, jab-like movements in quick succession, as if he were throwing punches. Sources say the teen admitted to reaching for the officer’s gun during the struggle and had fought with other officers on at least two prior occasions.

The video shows the officer’s gun come loose and a staff member picks it up and places it on the desk. She relocates the gun a second time as the scuffle moves closer toward it.

There is no need for this sentance. The author is trying to get readers to make conclusions based on this bit of info.

They’re worried about the body slam? Why not the rest?

Kid admitted going for the gun. I dont give a frick about anything after that.

Let's not even mentioning fighting other officers.

Kid should be in jail not in school. This should not be a thing except why the school and teachers have to deal with this kid to begin with.

Officer showed great restraint, isn't that what the typical argument is?

Brusly Police Chief Jonathan Lafeaux says both officers had been with the department about three years before resigning in the wake of the incident.

So both officers resigned over this already? When? Does that mean the police chief recommended they resign?

It does not say but why did he initially put him in a rear naked chokehold and take him down?

Obviously the kid seems like a little shite, has had previous problems, probably does not have a father in his life. But the initial takedown why>

I have no doubt he reached for the gun and SJW will say this is an example of police brutality it may be, but you have to spin this to think anyone is in the right in this situation. It is Brusly...

If this happened without his parents or attorney present, doesn’t matter. Not admissible. And I’d even argue came as a result of intimidation.

Brusly cops are notorious for being Barney Fife types with itchy trigger fingers. They’re the type to pull you over for going 27 in a 25.

After watching that video, I’m mad as hell. For the kid. I hope the LSP and any other authoritative body prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. They should not only never be cops again, but be in jail for assaulting a minor.

Why did the cop grab him in the 1st place.
My best guess is barney did not le the words thst came from the kid. Did not show the cop the respect he felt he was due.

Why did the cop come into the office? I will bet you it was because of the argument the teen had with the principle. If so, how is that a police matter?

I hope barney is fired and charged with assault. Dont worry he is immune from justice, he is a cop.
