I'll ask him about that tomorrow.

That air scoop on the bottom of the P-51 made its way to the hood of many race cars.

At first they were...their nick name hose nose came from difficulties seeing the deck and the landing signals officer. They had a large % of landing accidents so they were relegated to land based squadrons. They came up with a different landing approach for the corsair which was more of a curved turning approach rather than the more traditional straight in approach.

It definitely fricks.
Not sure if it's the GoaT, however.

It is awesome.
I hold the P40 in high regard and bad arse due to the local connection and the nose art. It didn't fly as well as the others but was a tough aircraft.

Since I like my girls a little thicker I submit the B17
She’s the kind that will drink you under the table, ride the pony then cook biscuits

Not as flashy as a fighter, but something very regal and distinguished about her...
And scary af, depending on your POV.

I’d say the SR-71 but the P-71 was one bad arse plane with the English Merlin engine. I’ve witnessed a couple of fly overs of a restored P-51 in Pomona CA for the stage races. Sounds like a bad arse. Screams by you while diving.

If we're not limiting it to fighters, this is my pick. The De Havilland Mosquito was a remarkable aircraft.
