Yes to sausage in seafood gumbo (and some nice chunks of smoked ham, too).
But I’m from the bayou where seafood is in literally everything, and no one treats it as sacred and unmixable.
My sister’s best gumbo is chicken/sausage and oyster...it is dynamite delicious. I slip a pint of oysters into my chicken gumbo, thanks to her influence.
