I would even be ok with losing if the games were fun to watch again

There have been very few fun games to watch under Ed Orgeron. It's like watching the low points of a Les Miles season except without the 4th quarter comeback, save Auburn last year

Your whole premise is wrong. 8-4 is not mediocrity in the SEC. 6-6 is. 8-4 or 9-3 is top 3-5 in SEC and top 25 ranking. If 8 or 9 wins is mediocrity then Miles is the poster child of what you accuse Ed O of.

Les Miles was so mediocre that he averaged ten win seasons, was a cancelled game away from having yet another ten win season in his last full season as head coach, and had at his absolute low point an eight win season which is considered “pretty good, unlike that mediocre Les Miles!”

It’s amazing to me how many people on the Rant have the memory of a goldfish when it comes to deflecting criticism from their boy O towards the old guard in Les. I’m surprised more of you don’t try to argue that O’s a better coach than Nick Saban using his LSU records too

I'm afraid what most people fail to realize is...
LSU plays in the toughest division, in the toughest conference in the country.

LSU had arguably the best college coach in history. He made relationships while here and as long as he is coaching somewhere else, he will take premium talent from LSU/Louisiana.

LSU no longer has the resources, facilities, coaching, administration nor money of schools like Bama and A&M.

LSU no longer has the mystic of Tiger Stadium to sway recruits like it did at one time. Regardless of who the team plays, when your stadium looks like it did last Saturday night, on national television, it hurts.

I firmly believe that since Bama returned to power, it has become easy for most traditional LSU fans to simply be satisfied with playing them close and going to a mid tier bowl

LSU football has been the victim of incompetence at the AD level for several years now. This includes hiring/firing/contracts of coaches as well as the stadium/game day experience.

miles avg 9.2 wins per year for his full tenure. So 8 wins is below average for modern day LSU.

We fired les for that average. He only had 2 out of 12 years where he only won 8 games. Once again, for LSU, those seasons were well below average. I don't care about the SEC definition of mediocrity, because that includes teams like vandy, Kentucky etc.

Why would that be okay for O, if it is worse than what we fired Les for? That makes no sense.

That’s right ....we are 2 - 0 and haven’t played Auburn yet....

And doom and gloom is all they can talk about...

Get a life.....

I think the tone changes pretty quick when we lose handily to Auburn. It going to be real ugly.

Bad is the #112 offense. Especially when you swore up and down you were going to fix it.
I’ll all about seeing what happens, but it’s not wrong to say, man, things don’t look too promising.

Right

It's not like I'm going to stop watching the games. But people are understandably concerned that we can't move the ball against an FCS school

Let's talk about exactly how responsible Miles was for the '07 Championship. You could still small Saban's aftershave..

You can look at any major program that played an FCS and had a 4+ TD lead and I guarantee their stadium looked the same

Orgeron was not hired to “rebuild” as much as many of his apologists want to change the narrative to that. Miles was held to “9-3 is the floor” type of expectations.

Now, 8-4 is considered a good season.

idgaf what you say but if you think O took over the program we want you are crazy...we were NOT competing for sec championships the last few years of Miles...to compete for them the program needs rebuilding

However, I want to see LSU at Alabama's level where 11 wins are the avg.
The admins have totally given up on this concept. They're not even trying. Mediocrity is here to stay. Tailgating is now the #1 sport at LSU.

Wa stadium looks in 4th qrtr has nothing to do with who coach is.
Getting worse.
Sorta like student section chanting STTDB after being warned songs going away if they continue.
Tends to grow for some reason. Same way with leaving early.

Uga, ole miss and Alabama are the standard for TS attendance wether you like it or not.

Nobody considers 8-4 to be a good season.
It’s a season that will get you one more year.

I understand why he said what he said...but anyone with any common sense should understand we were not elite when he took over

It does feel that way, doesn't it?

Les Miles -- who many LSU fans like, even now -- was not fired for petty reasons. Miles was not fired because of his terrible offensive approach. Miles was fired because it was clear that terrible offensive approach would not win more championships.

LSU fans wanted Miles gone because they wanted someone who could win a national championship.

The acrimony is simple: Miles was replaced by someone even less likely to win a national championship.

He didn’t inherit a championship quality roster, so failing to win at a high level shouldn’t be grounds for an immediate termination or anything like that.

However, he didn’t inherit a failing program, a losing program, or even a program approaching .500. So the attempts to paint it is as such are nauseating and are called out for being the bullshite that it is. That also means you don’t get to crow about the vast improvements to the program and expect to get some kind of credit for the same results that got the previous coach fired.

Orgeron inherited a deeply flawed roster. LSU on the line of scrimmage both sides had descended to average at best and lacked numbers. We had more kickers on the roster than linebackers. Miles Chavis and I do not know who, else Did not recruit very well in 2014 and 2015. We had a very below average QB room/depth chart. So whether you think O was hired for a rebuild or not there was and still is a rebuild in process. Very good progress so far.

No one on here is suggesting that 8 and 4 is good. You guys and the pundits said 7 and 5 or 6 and 6 a couple of weeks ago. The only reason 8 and 4 is on the radar is strength of schedule and 11 new starters. We have something like 6 seniors that play. Another indication of how bad the roster was. Our draft eligible juniors who left barely made or did not make nfl rosters another indication of where we were.

Exhausted at reading the negatives being blamed on Orgeron and the expectations/projections placed on Orgeron. We are competing in the toughest division of the toughest conference in college football. The clear leader is a football dynasty with the best coach in the last 25 years. Give us a break. Things do not get fixed in one year
