Speak for yourself

If the Pels offer it and he's willing to take it, it means that no other team has offered more, the market has set itself, and no one is getting ripped off.

Maybe I should have worded that differently.

He's not going to get ripped off, because he's going to take the deal that makes the most sense for him. Barring collusion, this would be his "market value", thus he isn't getting ripped off. The Pels want to pay him the least amount possible that he will accept, which is the way most businesses work
