Capt Travis Lovell with Reelin Good Charters out of Dularge is the best. He’s always on fish and it doesn’t hurt that he’s a hell of a guy. Give him a call, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve fished with Travis over the years and he’s by far one of the best. 985-856-8167.

Nope nope nope. Fool me once....
Caught a good many fish, but between his ADD (appears he was using our charter to scout for later as many times as we moved in the middle of a hot bite) and insulting me and my client and my client’s wife, never again. My choice is Fish Intimidator. Super nice guy, and a redfish slayer (Buras/Venice). Go get your limits of eating size then go run the bulls. Shallow water and light tackle makes it a blast.
Super fine lodges too.

Dang man, what did he say / do to y’all? I don’t know him btw, just rare to see a guided trip review with anyone halfway reputable earn those kinda marks - not doubting your story at all, just curious.
I’ve fished with pretty much everyone on Big Lake, and quite a few east of there / closer to New Orleans, and off that top of my head I can’t think of one bad trip - all those guys seem to be salt of the earth/easy to be around, so I’d be interested in hearing what he did / said

CAPT Travis Lovell
985 856 8167.
Everyone I have sent his way has been pleased with the service.
He is especially good with kids and has two of his own.

If you’re a dude in the boat with your wife (who can compete with most men I ever fished with) and the Captain tells you that you cast like a woman, how do you think that went over. This was after he and I started the day almost coming to blows on the dock because I wanted to bring my own (small) tackle bag and he tried telling me no. And the insults to everyone in the boat continued all day. And the aforementioned moving several times when we were catching on every cast. I’ve paid for many a trip, fished with some of the top guide services all over the Gulf Coast and there’s a couple I wouldn’t let someone I didn’t like fish with.

Gotcha. Even if he was joking on the casting like a woman comment, you’d think he could kinda feel the tension from earlier in the trip and not try to be too cute.
I’ve had exactly one bad trip, and it wasn’t because of a rude guide. I used to fish with w/cedar edge a lot on big lake yrs ago (think they merged w/someone - the Constance family / great dudes). Anyway, was me, wife, and a dude that didn’t fish with them a lot (not last named ornrelated to the Constance boys). We caught one trout. Pulled up to Spicers and everyone else had done pretty well. Now that’ll happen every now and then, but the whole trip, I never felt a single oyster shell / reef on one cast (fishing artificials). Knew the dude was just guessing. Was tempted to tell him to let us go duke it out on long point w/100 boats. Anyway, I didn’t bitch, but Paul knew I was pretty pissed. Told me the next one was on him. I’d probably fished e/him 20 times by then. Came back down cpl weeks later, he tried to comp the trip, wound up just ripping the guide about 3 times the norm in just a normal / decent type trip.

It’s all about him and what he wants to do. His people skills are horrendous.

Great trip. Big big fish. Last time we had him booked we had to scrub because of a tropical storm. Gave me buddy some grief but eventually refunded.

Kris Hebert with Kris’s Charters. Solid choice out of Lafitte.
