Looking into making a move to Houston because I just don't believe Louisiana has much to offer. I'm a plant operator (no F250 or truck nuts) so would need to be in commute range (45 mins tops) to Pasadena, Deer park or Baytown.

Ideally I'd like to get a pipeline controller job in The Woodlands but those jobs seem to be few and far between.

What would be my best options in the Houston metro area? Also, I'm a single 23 year old and would like somewhere with decent nightlife.

So far I'm extremely interested in The Woodlands/Spring, Katy, Sugar Land and Pearland

Heights is a good call. You can probably get to Pasadena in 40-45 minutes. You would have to add 15 minutes or so to Baytown, I think. Pearland is a totally different area but I think the commute times would match up. Pearland is much much more residential and not where I would suggest a 23 year old to go. Maybe in 10 years.

The Inner Loop is probably 40-45 minutes most days. Places like Greenway/Upper Kirby, Montrose, Museum District to Pasadena. Add another 15 minutes for Baytown.

Katy is probably the worst place in the city for your location. I think it would take at least an hour and a half to get to Pasadena.

Sugar Land would be over an hour for sure to Pasadena, maybe 75 minutes? Woodlands would probably be 75 minutes too. Spring might be an hour or longer.

If you are content doing 40-45 minutes, I would look at Heights, Greenway-Upper Kirby, Museum District, and Montrose areas. That's about as good as you'll get for social life, restaurants, bars, etc.

Those places are shite for what you want. Mid town, heights, rice, Kirby areas are where you should be looking

Look at Kinder Morgan in Pasadena or Galena park. Although, it's a little bit if a drive, people commute from Katy and the heights.

That area where I45 and I610 meet is a really nice area.

You're gonna move to Texas because you can't find a job here?

Clear Lake area. Why drive from Woodlands or Heights everyday?

Also, do you really want to work in an area with active nightlife? Live where it's nice and quiet, and drive to the 'nightlife'

What is your budget for rent?

23 and single? Midtown is where you need to be. 30 mins to deer park. 30-40ish for Baytown

You'll quickly find out half of Houston is from Louisiana or so it seems. 10% of all people born in Louisiana eventually move to TX.

Congratulations on the move!

Find a job then find somewhere to live that’s 5-10 minutes away. Your life benefits when you don’t waste it in traffic.

None of these places have any nightlife. Midtown Houston is the place to be
