I think we will see some shuffling of the staff here pretty quickly. Everyone is wondering why Surtain who by all accounts was locked in to LSU for years suddenly flipped to the evil empire. I think it is a little more than just that they have a qualified HC. I think it is that Raymond will soon be leaving LSU. LSU hired a 73 year old to coach Wr's a guy who had no job and paid him 25 grand more than Raymond who was supposedly your ace recruiter and one of the best DB coaches in the country. Why would you do that? Then on top of that LSU just hired a guy to coach the safety position only. I don't think I have ever heard of a staff set up like this. Let's not forget this new guy was hand picked by Aranda to come here. Raymond was inherited by Aranda and wasn't his choice. In no way am I saying Raymond is a bad coach. I have just been thinking when you consider the pay set up of the staff it makes no sense. If I were Corey Raymond I would be pissed off. Not to mention they go out and hire a coach and give him some of your responsibility. So what I think will happen is guy that Raymond leaves for another job. The new guy slides into his slot and coaches DB's. Nussmeyer moves from the shadow staff and becomes a on the field QB coach.

Ok go ahead and attack me

Surtain was never a lock as some of you think. His is a punk and you watch he will be a bust at BAMA like the other punk at LB is. Watch!!!

God forbid they compound error by putting this on Raymond vs. his 'body of work'.

There's an applicable saying here: when you find yourself in a hole, quit digging.

I won't! You bring up some good points I have been looking at the coaches pay for the past few years and have wondered why isn't Raymond getting more credit for DBU. Like you said, I know if I were him I would be pissed also.

You have to love the guys like Raymond "who are ALL LSU" that come back to coach at the institution they love. They bring more passion to there job, they are not just saying the school is great they lived the experience so that holds more weight with the recruits. If O runs Raymond - which in affect that is what they are doing by not paying a person who is so integral to DBU, he will do so much damage to his tenure he won't survive it. O needs to remember while he is from Louisiana he quit on LSU and went home to Mommy. Raymond bled for us, he is our blood, sweat and tears and it would be smart of him not to forget that. It would be one thing if Raymond wasn't cutting it, but he is excelling at what he is doing for our school.

So Coach O, if Raymond goes you can count on one more in the fire Coach O crowd and I probably won't be the only one to do that if you run Raymond.

Only an enormously insecure person, with remarkably poor judgment would allow C. Raymond to slip away from this coaching staff.
I will not rule out that possibility, however, with this HC and staff.
If that happened, it might just be the straw that breaks thecamel’s back...

Definitely on to something here. Makes no sense. And there's no way this guy can be a recruiter who relates to these kids. The stupidity of this move is overlooked and underestimated.

I am more of an O supporter than a detractor, but I think this post has more than a few elements of truth as i heard these same comments from Mike Scarborough yesterday. If it were me in Raymond's place, I would have some similar questions. Why are you cutting my role in half? Why am I making less money than a new guy? Am I needed here anymore? Maybe I need to get my resume together because I don't hear anyone telling me, and the public, how valuable I am to this team. I am beginning to have my doubts.

That won't happen. Lsu is not going to have only 3 defensive coaches. It is not uncommon to have a cb coach and a safety coach. Clemson, Miami. Ohio st on a quick look had this set up. On the defensive side of the ball more dbs play during a game than any other spot. Teams play with 5 dbs more than 5.

I don't think Corey is going anywhere but if he does i think Aaron Schwanz would step in as the outside linebackers coach.

No we aren't. The kid said he wanted to win championships. Do you think he has a better chance at that with Saban or Zero?
