re: Screw Every “Fan” Not Giving Ensminger and O A Chance

I agree about Ensminger. Don't like the hire but he should at least be respected by the fans.
Hired by Les and has been here almost 10 years. Very good if not great recruiter and he's the sole reason Terrace Marshall is coming here. Good TE coach also.
But, to hell with O.

What exactly are you getting at here? Are you implying that Steve Ensminger somehow made a sacrifice to be at LSU? He was coaching high school football when Miles hired him.
And who gives a shite if he loves LSU. What difference does that make in whether or not he will be a successful OC? I fail to see the logic in this narrative.

Literally two of the biggest arguments AGAINST making him OC.
Especially the 10 years part.
If this guy is the type of person that can have a substantial impact on a QB..........and he's been here the last 10 years...........then he's not exactly been proactive. I don't care if you are the QB coach or not, make a damned impact where it's needed!!!

Not really positive or negative, just a fan. But how could anyone say O "lied" when the whole "Best OC in college football is subjective. I think O believes that SE is the best OC for LSU. To my point, if you ask the question, "Who is the best OC in college football?", you will not get one answer. The response to this will of course be, "Well I know who it ain't.", which is just a cop out.

I'm in total agreement with Jacob Hester. Give SE a chance. If he doesn't get the job done next season, fire them.

Yep, we had 2 shitty losses and Ed screwed up on his OC hire. Schedule was not that difficult too, but we did about as well as Les would have done....You've yet to prove that O was a failure last season and as an interim at LSU. Your're just spouting off aimlessly because you don't like Ed, I get it.
And OMG, Ed failed badly at Ole Miss over 10 years ago...I was not aware of that. You.

True. But you will get a general consensus of probably 5-10 names that everyone will agree should be in the discussion for the best.

People say "give them a chance" so much it's lost its meaning. What does it fricking matter if anyone "gives them a chance?"
They'll either succeed or fail on their own merits, and it won't matter a bit if anyone gave them a chance.

Les never got blown out by State or lost to Troy at home. He also never lost to Auburn at home, so I'd give him the benefit of the doubt to have that win. O did nothing else special this season, so I assume Les would have equaled the rest. SO at the very least, Les would have been one game better than O. But regardless, we fired Les to get better results, not "about as well."

He's doing the exact same thing here.

It has nothing to do with right or wrong, it has to do with people bitching and it not changing the fact that O is HC and E is OC. Believe me, I didn't like that O was hired as HC, nor E being OC but it's irrelevant because I'm not in power to change it and a ton of bitching by a bunch of ranters won't either because its about money and they're pretty extended right now with all the buyouts. The fact is, if E fails miserably, O and alleva will be history in a couple years when it won't cost near as much to get rid of him or maybe this works out well, either way most people will get their wish, O and alleva fired or LSU football doing well. Time will tell, I don't like waiting to "see" because it's a chance for the program to slip but it's out of our hands.

This sounds familiar.....like some kind of pattern with LSU coaches....hmmmmmmmm

How is it a cop out to be able to, with 100% certainty, say that our TE's coach who had not help a job as an OC for 20 years is NOT the best OC in the country?
This is the same non-argument that was floated to try and prop up the hiring of Orgeron as head coach. "Well...who SHOULD have been 3rd after Jimbo and Herman?" ALMOST EVERYONE is the legit answer to that question, btw. We hired a guy with a sub .500 career record and then suggested he was a viable third option for a Top 10 program!
And it's the same answer for the OC position. Ensminger has not held this position for 20 years, so if he was really respected as an OC he'd have been one sometime during that time frame. This is basic stuff here.

While the above is true, if you hire one of the 5-10, those in favor of the other's will say "you lied". Each and every coach has to go with who he thinks is best and live or die with that decision. Hell, it could be argued that Saban, with one notable exception, hasn't ever hired the best OC at Bama. The best partnerships are not necessarily built on combined talent, but who works best together and compliment each other. To many egos involved to be other wise. I believe this is why many coaches don't do as well when hired away from their initial success.

I don't think I'm alone in saying that everyone here would be much happier if we were arguing over whether or not LSU hired the best of the top 10 OCs or not.
Instead, like last year's HC hire, we the fans are left holding our collective dick in our hands trying to figure out why someone was hired that literally no other P5 school would have even interviewed.

Is Steve Ensminger on this list of the Top 5-10 names that are generally agreed to?
Is he, do you think, in the Top 20?
Top 50?
If he is, why was he not somewhere else being paid for this job, and if not...what difference does it make if there is no agreed upon #1 if the guy Orgeron chose is agreed upon to not been in the Top 50?
It may be true that it's impossible to say who is #1...but it's not impossible to say that someone is not considered to be in that top tier. and that is, ultimately the point despite so many attempts at diversion.

One year in as head coach of LSU and Orgeron has already broken every single promise he made to get the job. He’s had his chance.
