Yeah, they are pushing out the conservative base

Oh please. You live in Stonebridge. You Live there to avoid the Nola culcha. Don’t even pretend otherwise. Get off your high horse. If Nola was such a fabulous place, you yourself would actually live in it.
Not exactly, but I get your point. I've owned houses in Lakeview and Algiers (in the city) and I moved here because I wanted a bigger, newer house but to keep my kids in the same grammar school.
My law firm is in downtown New Orleans and I've been there for 20 years.

Yeah, I know it's got crime, urban decay, a freeloading underclass, a corrupt government, etc. But so does Baton Rouge. So does Shreveport. So does every city in America of any size (particularly in the east and south).
It's less that it has those things and more that the locals almost celebrate those flaws.

So you criticize prople in Prairieville for criticizing cities they don't live in while you tout a city you don't live in?
Hmmmmm

Eh, that’s a bit strong. It’s not “celebrated” by any means, but there is a bit more of a “welp, that’s New Orleans!” laissez-faire attitude when it comes to problems in the city.

You're right, but if someone moves out of the city and their friends ask why, and they say "I just can't do the crime and corruption, and etc etc any more," they would be called a dumbass and told they just don't get it.

That's a statewide attitude especially towards corruption. Stop electing officials based on race, personality, family name, and whether or not they can tell a good story. You'll see some changes then.

Yep, you’re right. It’s definitely a statewide issue. But the downside to being the most well-known city in the state (which New Orleans people love to point out, and it’s obviously true) is that you also tend to become the poster child for problems like local political corruption.

It is the armpit of earth.

NOLA is going to take center stage. Its time for them to stop acting like they are 50 years behind everyone else. Get tough on crime, fix your infrastructure, keep rolling with tourism, revamp the education system

why, because they give a shite?
About what?
They'll be gone to some new, trendy place soon

Completely agree. Unfortunately, it looks like you’ve got 4 more years until having a chance to elect someone that might have the same mindset.

The voting base is not informed, possibly not educated, enough to vote for a proper candidate. The city needs to be ran like a business and not like a social justice campaign

There wasn't a proper candidate in the race

Which was kind of my point when the one poster was asking me if I thought the people of Boston were more educated voters and I didn’t know what point he was trying to make in asking...

Four years is a decent amount of time to learn enough about almost any city in the country and have an informed opinion on it.

The level.of education is generally higher is most states than here

I feel like we are arguing the same thing here...
