You need to put it in context.
Before the Beatles it was three chord rock and roll and manufactured lightweights like Frankie Avalon.
Their tight harmonies and incessant melodies and hooks revolutionized and expanded rock music.
That said, I agree with you. IWHYH is among my least favorite.

Maybe its because ive heard them 100000 times, but if these come on the radio i will turn the station, and im a HUGE Beatles fan.
