Why the hell are we playing at Neyland again this year?

We played @ Tennessee in 2011. It should be their year to travel to us.

Maybe you want to think Long and hard about what happened in 2012 that would’ve changed the schedules around. I’ll wait.

Too many teams, permanent cross division rivals, bridge schedules, etc.

Calling Tennessee a dumpster fire would be an insult to both dumpsters and fires.
Let's get it out of the way while we can

Once we went to 12 teams, that should have immediately and permanently killed the "permanent cross division" shite.
Everybody should play their division and 3 rotating cross division teams every year. That way, every player who goes to an SEC school has a great chance of playing every SEC team - and most of them at least twice, so a solid chance of playing in every SEC stadium if they stay 4 years (if he makes the traveling roster as a freshman, at least).
But compromises continue to be made for favored children of the conference.

Delayed schedule outrage is the best kind of outrage

Because Coach O will take this team anywhere to play anyone anytime

I expect this same thread next year right before the Florida game.

no, they just wanted to keep traditional rivalries intact when teams are in different divisions.
Now yes, ideally, I'd like to play 3 rotating East teams, but we didn't really have any lost-standing East rivals to worry about.
But Bama-Tennessee, Auburn-Georgia, etc, those games deserved to be preserved.

The scheduling sucks. IT is what it is. Joe A doesn't have the pull to fix it

They'll play them every other year - it will make them MORE special, for frick's sake.

They can always play them, just not counting to the conference rankings in years they aren't in the rotation.

We didn’t have permanent rivals or divisions until we went to 12 teams. It’s kindve amazing how often I’ve seen this posted. Arkansas and USCe were teams 11 and 12. TAMU and Mizzou were 13 and 14. We’re a 14 team league!

*Third Saturday in October that's often played on the fourth Saturday. Such a tradition.

And Kentucky has been here twice (2011, 2014) since we last traveled to Lexington (2007).
Essentially, the rotation started over in 2014. Of course, I wouldn't put money it will go all the way through in 2025 without there being a tweak here and there (a ninth conference game, expansion, etc.)

Hurricane, UF, and an open date?
Nah
It's all those bridge schedules I would imagine. At least it's not UGA between the hedges.

If it’s that important to them, they can use an OOC slot to make that happen every year.
Their little relationships shouldn’t be the rest of the league’s problem.
