so winning defined by the Trump administration is making big announcements about bills he can't pass and watching liberals melt.
It's called setting the bar as low as possible. Thus the Trump core supporter desperation for anything that might maybe look like a "win".

But Never Trumpers keep telling me that Trump is a liberal?

Is he using "Welfare" as a catch-all or specifically?
Everyone already moved to disability.

liberals oppose welfare reform now?
Posted on 10/16/17 at 1:14 pm to bamarep
he says lots of things, many of them untrue. this one falls into that category.
I have zero issue with welfare reform, I think it is long overdue. Trump won't make it happen though, because he is incompetent and inept. Still my president.

"One thing we're going to be looking at very strongly is welfare reform. That's becoming a very, very big subject and people are taking advantage of the system and then other people aren't receiving what they really need to live, and we think it's very unfair to them,"
That's a major problem with the current welfare system. The system itself is not designed for any real accountability and there are some people who think nothing of spending their time scamming the system versus using the benefit to help themselves move up. It's not just welfare but the government enables behavior like that by not verifying who benefits go to.

Part of the problem with corralling fraud is that funding and the budget is tied to the caseload. It isn't that employees are ignorant or unaware of what is occurring, it is that often the upper level mgmt allow the indiscretions to slide in order to keep and/or increase budget levels, I assume in the hopes to further advance their bureaucratic careers.
My wife used to work for welfare department for the state of LA.

Of all the non significant crap hes rolled back, I actually agree 1000% with welfare reform
Posted on 10/16/17 at 1:26 pm to bamarep
Just rolling back the free for all that it became under Obama would be a good start.

God, I love TRUMP so much!

Welfare fraud is widespread, but in most cases it is committed by people who are unable to make ends meet. In a 2012 study, 30 of 34 interviewed welfare recipients admitted fraud

A 1988 study of 50 Chicago women on welfare found that 80% worked either full-time or part-time, but none of them reported their income to the welfare office

According to estimates by auditors of the SSA, fraud against the various SSA benefits programs may account for as much as ten percent of all costs to the Social Security Trust Funds

was "as much as ten percent" as high as you could find, or is that estimate near the middle of the typical range?

We need disability reform even more than welfare reform. When Clinton passed welfare reform these losers just got on disability so they kept getting paid, but with disability they get it forever. Now they even have their chirrens screw up and act out in school so they can get on disability as well. We need to stop this shite and MAGA

Even you of all people don't even believe that

Back in the 90s when welfare reform was passed, Michigan saw a 25% drop credited mostly to ineligible people being taken off. I can tell you from having family retiring from the welfare office here in Louisiana that they don't check and the excuse is they don't have the resources allocated to do so.
It's not just welfare. The government has been horrendous when it comes to disbursing funds. Social security has its issues too at least from those I know that work there.

I missed your post. Interesting indeed since I had an aunt retire from there after 30 years.
