Best thing he could have done for himself is put it on the individual owners. Have each team make the decision internally, there will be massive kneeling tomorrow.

There will be massive blowback if it happens, all of this could have been diverted, ole Rog just isn't the guy to take the NFL to the heights they paid him for. (all IMO of course) tomorrow will be interesting in pregame, and post game shows to see how much the media is willing to discuss this.

It may be peaceful protest but it is still divisive. Same as this shite Trump said.

I'm curious how you think this could have been diverted? I say that because I think they wanted to silence it as quickly and quietly as possible, which is what they tried to do not resigning Colin and just hoping this would go away.

Goodell could have sent word to all team owners that political displays would not be tolerated by players during games or inside stadiums, similar to how the NFL fines players for wearing the wrong gear. Would it have worked? Maybe, probably not, but he never tried.

In the beginning there was just one lone antagonist kneeling for attention, he did nothing for over a year and here we are. Stopping one early could have stopped the momentum.

Either way he never tried and now chooses to side with allowing players to antagonise much of the NFL fan base.

None of this is leader material. IMO defaulting to letting each team handle it buys home time to react without taking the heat until they get things sorted out.

Trump said players who kneel should be fired.

He did not say all NFL players are bad.

NFL says "most" NFL players do good work.

Didn't they both say the same thing.

It's based on a couple half truths and many blatant lies. Also pretty much calls all white people racist. That's divisive you dumbfrick.

Would've been way worse.

"NFL commissioner takes away Black players right to protest and forces them to stand".

Would've been an absolute fricking shitshow, WAY worse than what this is. The last thing the NFL needs is America thinking Goodell is a racist. THAT would've hurt their bottom line, PR nightmare 10x whatever this is.

What Trump did was give RG and the owners permission to back the protesters. This is the cost of his ego, and the fact that he only watches Fox News.

He said if they kneel for the anthem they should be fired. I don't care the color. Make a political statement at work you get fired like everyone else would.

When you do something worth 100x more than the average American you have some sway. Don't like it? Get better at something.

This whole "you couldn't do this at your job!" narrative is so funny.

Of course Goodell doesn't want Trump to play the patriot card. He's trying to increase revenue in England, Mexico, Canada, etc

America is just a piggybank to these multi-national companies

They'll go with whatever hurts less, obviously. Trump might've just tipped the scales, that's my point. Hence Goodell and 4 teams coming out publicly against Trump today.

They don't actually care about anything other than money. If you think otherwise you're a dumbass.
