Just checking to see if anyone else has noticed this? I'm on the road during the day/week in town a decent amount. I've been noticing during school hours teenagers are "collecting " for cheerleading and football uniforms.
Same hand writing, same "story" just the guys have football and girls have cheerleading written. They will damn near stick the sign on your window. Kicker is, no school is listed.

Do people not read b/w the lines with this? No way this is on the up and up?

See that crap all of the time. 14-15 yr old boys and girls but they are collecting for their "youth basketball team". There were some on Sherwood last weekend.

This has been going on for a while now. Gone are the days where if you wanted to raise money, you'd actually provide a good or service for a "fundraiser."

They do it because it works. If people would stop donating all of the time, they'd stop and maybe go back to washing cars or cutting grass.

Not saying I'd hire a cheerleader to cut my grass or wash my car, but i'm not saying I wouldn't.

That boy and girl have been doing this for a while as their parental sits in the shade next to CVS/RiteAid/Walgreens.

I've seen them before, but I just ignore anyone collecting money unless they're actually trying to raise money by selling something outside of a grocery store or somewhere.

All the time or just today? EBR schools had early dismissal today, but if it's other days, they were probably not school-age.

This has been going on in New Orleans, particularly near the corner of Elysian and 610, for years and years and years.

Fat arse mama with no job sits under a tree and has like 10 children, ranging in age from like 7 years old to in their late teens in somewhat matching outfits collecting money for a "team" that doesn't exist. That's her job.

The children are like 7 years old literally walking on an extremely busy 3 lane in each direction street.

They do this on college/perkins all the time now. Out there every day. Same signs and song and dance. Definitely not on the up and up. They don’t even wear uniforms or anything, just kids out there in t shirts and shorts

Every single day, Elysian Fields at 610.
Like damn, they don't have fundraisers or world's finest chocolate in the hood.

Ain't getting my money. Have a car wash, sell BBQ lunches, or anything other than panhandling.

been doing this for years. I was glad the City/Parish passed an ordinance making it "illegal." Unfortunately, they will not dedicate manpower to enforce it, thus it continues to occur.
