Miles, while maybe an underwhelming hire in comparison to who he was replacing at LSU,, was CLEARLY qualified to get the job.
and actually trumped his predecessor's W% at LSU.
My problem with terminating Miles was how do we assure the repetition of excellence experienced this century, and who was in charge of the change.
So I haven't given up on O, seeing how I never thought he was that guy and Sat skulldrag was confirmation of the inevitable.

I'm not giving up on O yet, but you're not being honest with yourself if you're not alarmed by the Miss State game.

It's not "just one game" or "just one loss" that bothers us. It was the historically horrific performance in the first real game this season (BYU is awful and Chattanooga doesn't count). And the real meat of our schedule remains to be played.

So we're not giving up on O, just very concerned. After Florida and Auburn, we'll have a better picture.

and the fact that we play multiple teams with more nfl talent than the team that just drug its nuts over our face.

this might be the 1st time since 1928 that a lsu team was held scoreless in consecutive games against bama.

Well they've got a couple more games to get their shite together.
Good thing LSU has a cheerleader to sort it all out.

I am not surprised at their giving up on O
These are the people that did not want him in the first place.

A lot of them are still crying because their man was not hired of interviewed. so at the slightest downfall, the will ATTACK and cannibalize the program just so they fell relevant.

yet they call themselves fans...really ?

SUPPORT THE TEAM AND STOP THE CRYING until such time as it is merited..... NOT after one loss.

So when is it merited, after the program has been run into the ground?

Makes sense, let's not worry when the fire has started. Give the building a chance to not get burned down.

Here's the thing I am afraid is happening: the players don't respect Orgeron. I doubt he has much input in Aranda's defense, and based on the "I don't know why Guice sat" answer (and the fact that he wasn't around the huddle prior to the last play in the Florida game last year) I don't think he's involved at all with the offense. He just seems to be "there", hanging out, cheerleading, but clueless. Rah rah rah yaw yaw yaw. I get the sense that the players don't take him seriously, don't think he's in charge of anything, and don't see him as accountable for anything. I don't think they fear him as such, and that carries over to the preparation and focus they put forth. That's something that can happen when you elevate a "player's coach" internally, especially if he had no prior authority over them. Saban ran things like a drill sergeant, Miles was the head man when he came, both had respect. Miles came in and brought them through the trauma of the hurricanes that devastated the area. Orgeron is goofy Uncle O to these guys, and though they finished last year for him, that was also personal redemption for letting Miles down and getting him fired for losing to Wisky and Auburn. I think there might be a lax and lazy atmosphere (which would explain all the sloppy play and penalties), and if he tries to ratchet up the discipline after at first being "their buddy" (easier practices, etc), he might lose the team even more. I hope I'm wrong, because if that's the case, this season could go REALLY bad. People talk about 8-4 ... we could be looking at missing a bowl entirely

this is exactly what concerns me.

Understand, I really like O and so want him to succeed....I'm sentimental. I also believe he is bright guy and give him the benefit of the doubt what he's learned in the years since OM. However, we look to precedent on successful trends and I haven't found anywhere in college football where someone has failed to the level he did and rebounded. No one. Then, the manner of the loss to MSU is alarming......I'd like to see how good they (MSU) continue to be though. Maybe they are a championship-level team. We will see.

I am really hoping O hits a stride and pulls through. For him but especially for the kids who have busted their arse day in and day out. What they are experiencing hurts.....way more than it does any of us.

The problem with our fanbase is that there is a large portion that think they know more than the casual fan, but in reality are clueless as well. Congrats, you are in that group as well.

Stop the doomsday attitude until really merited.

But hand wringing is fun and if this handwringing cuts down the quality of our next recruiting class ,we will have a chance for more fun hand wringing next year !

I just asked a question. When is it merited to speak up about what's going on?

Charles - I know you're in the same generation as O - do you remember him from that time? I'm trying to remember your exact vintage, were you a couple of years either way from him and Bobby?

If so, what was your take on him back then?

I do, too. I back the team and the program, regardless of the personnel.

LOL.....I'm not that old. He's a few years on me.

I actually don't know O. But, I have a soft spot for all Down Da Bayou folks. I really do. They are special, heartfelt and genuine.

It's actually kinda weird that I don't know him....

What in his past suggest this is true? What do you have to back up your claims?

Most realistic fans predicted 2 maybe 3 losses given all the issues with this team. Ms St was not one of those. I will admit after Saturday's performance, my confidence in Orgeron dropped dramatically

This sums it up best. Miss State was not supposed to be a loss, much less a 30 point arse beating.

Even if you ignore his history at Ole Miss, O is not a good coach. In both interim stints and in 3 games as HC at LSU, he has a losing record against teams with a pulse. And nothing indicates that will change.

O has to prove his $3.5 mil worth

He makes less than Butch Jones and is tied with Mark Stoops at Kentucky in terms of salary. UK last year went 4-4 in the SEC. That's about right with the trajectory of this team at this point. Miles was getting paid too much for that outcome.
