Interesting read on Arden Key by Dellenger. Arden's dad didn't really reveal much, but he did say football got too much for him because it happened so quickly.

The Advocate Aritcle

quote:

His son’s issues evolved from his “instant success” in football, he said. It resulted in Arden Jr’s life becoming unbalanced.

“It was time to take time away from football,” Key Sr. said. “He lost himself. He had so much success early. All the pressures of being a student athlete. We forget he’s still a kid trying to balance life out. It was all coming down on him.”

His son spent his time away from football at home, Arden Key Sr. said, staying with his mother in Atlanta. He “reconnected” with the family, removing himself from that bright spotlight.

He’s a new man now, his father says, with a different approach on life and football.

quote:

“He had his coming out party against Mississippi State and he got cleared to come back and play against Mississippi State. I’m looking forward to a rebirth.”
So are we, Mr. Key. So are we.

This is one of the most confusing off-the-field sagas I've seen. Maybe the less we know the better. I'm just glad he appears to be healthy and ready to do what he's great at.

Really glad he's back

But that whole statement would be a giant red flag for me if I was an NFL team with a top 15 pick.

GReat to see that it seems like he's doing better! People sometimes lose sight of the fact that these are normal kids going through the same struggles of everyone else. Only with the added pressure that goes with being a student athlete. Without reading much into it, it's great that his family supported him through whatever he was going through. Seem like class acts.

The bottom line is Key has become bigger than LSU. If healthy, he's a top 5 pick. Once that happened the focus changed from LSU to NFL. Get angry at him all you want, but LSU can't pay him millions. The NFL can. When there is no incentive to care, you stop caring

Some people get obsessed with student athletes' personal lives.
They need to get their own lives.

I wish his Dad hadn't spoken up just before game day. Now, the speculation has fired up again. I'm sure his Dad was trying to put out some rumors, but I don't think even his saying Arden is in great shape, did that.

It's none of our business and speculation is nothing more than that.
