I'm considering purchasing a 2015 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab V6 4x2 with 24k miles on it for $26k plus taxes and fees. It has the SR5 extra value and TSS packages as well.

I noticed the 2017 Tacoma brand new with same features has an invoice of $28k.

Is it worth it to buy the used one? Is buying at or below invoice possible? Will the 2018s push down the 2017 price much at all?

Enlighten me OT baws.

Change your title to "Toyota Tacoma boys" since you're talking about toy trucks

Not really. I did, but only because it was all I could afford at the time. Unless you like the older generation more, just buy new

Across the board, Tacomas seem to lose about $1k of value for every 10k miles though fwiw.

If the new one has the same features and is only $2k more, you buy the new one

not only is it new, but you will probably get better financing and/or rebates on a new vehicle that will make it a wash in the end

For $2000 more, get the one with no mileage

Those have really not gone up much in the past 10 years. I looked at them in 2007 in the $24k range.

This doesnt sound right. Was looking recently and a taco crew cab with V6 was still around 30k with basic features

Probably because it's a 4x2. But it's likely you noticed incorrectly

I rarely advocate buying new over slightly used but for $2k you'd be dumb not to buy new.

They have the highest resell value on the market so either will hold its value well. They last forever too, I know several people that have ones running strong at 10+ years and 150k+ miles. I bought mine with right around the same features as yours several years ago and have not had any issues at all. Now at 80k miles.

I'd usually say buy used, but for just $2000 I would go new in this case. One recommendation though would be to look at 4x4 pricing

I have a 2004 Tacoma with not even 80,000 miles on it. The Blue Book value is between $8300 and $10,300. I bought it for $17,000.

TSS package on a Tacoma is gonna run you in the $31-33K range.

If the pre-owned you are looking at is certified, then you may want to consider it as you can upgrade to a 7/100k Platinum warranty for under $1000.

If it's not certified, bite the bullet and buy the new

Buy the new one...

They redesigned the truck in '16 and added a lot of worth while features over the previous gen. Radio is nicer, projector headlights, digital screen on dash, new 3.5 v6 more HP/TQ (that old 4.0 v6 is a proven workhorse though in the previous gen and i find the 5 speed transmission was slightly better than the new 6 speed).

From my personal experience...
I own 16 4runner w the 4.0 and owned the 16 taco with the 3.5. (Now have a 17 tundra)

Doesn't make sense for Tacoma to only have cloth seats and not offer vinyl seats.
