I also wanted a proven star for this hire. Thing is, is the TAF nut lickers went all in for Fisher, AND prompted Aleva to do just that. THIS is why we were again caught with our britches down when it was clear Jimbo wasn't coming. Too late even on Tom Herman to make a splash hire. As it turns out, coach O hire is a stroke of genius for this program, city, and state. Resumes are like stats. You can make them say what you want. Intangibles never show up in either.

Is this not what O is doing?

Do people really think O is a better coach than Jimbo?

He failed pretty miserably at Ole Miss. The failures on the Rant can't understand that some other people can learn from their mistakes.
You can probably blame some of that on watching Les Miles over the years.

It's as if that guy's brain had a max capacity and he hit it 10 years ago.

shite no. (Well, this is the rant, so I guess you may be right.)

But, the jimbo to LSU ship has sailed. even if O got canned in a few years. He's at FSU for the remainder of his career IMO.

Somewhat, Meaux Jo. However, Coach O's upside is off the charts with LSU. Maybe not anywhere else. But a perfect dynamic coach, and personality to explode at LSU. Coach O has also endeared himself to major coaching minds in all levels of football, and regardless of what the Les Miles apologist need to believe, OC, and DC are replaceable.

Hell, Will Muschamp might be ready to come back if, and when Aranda moves on.
As far as OC goes. No one will be as squanderous as Les Miles, and his bitch OCs.

Coach O will win a national title at LSU before Fisher will again at FSU. Yes. Orgeron is a superstar hire. Fisher will always be, "meh".

Ole Miss?!!! Really? Damn, I was praying Ole Miss would be stupid enough to hire Les Miles this go round.

Ole Miss, you say?

Not even sure what you're saying here. Whats wrong about saying he failed at OM?

If saying that Orgeron failed at Ole Miss was some sort of an anomaly, you may have a point. You think Miles could turn Ole Piss around?

O holds the worse record in OM history. He was bad even by their standards.

I don't give a damn about les miles. We fired him to better ourselves.

Both his predecessor and his successor at Old Miss have better record of success there than O.

IMO Fisher is very good, but not great. In the metaphorical realm of baseball, a Jimbo Fisher hire would be the equivalent of a double off the wall.

Where O was a 2 out pinch hit single, but at least it allowed us to keep our All Star SS (Aranda) and we picked up last years RBI leader (Canada) in the off season!

No one thinks O is a better coach than Jimbo, at least not presently. The thing that's baffling is people who were the loudest detractors of Miles wanted Jimbo above any other. In terms of wins and losses, their resumes are very similar. Both got a natty when all the pieces came together just right, both have a good win pct, but when it comes to playing teams with equal or better talent they generally disappoint, and in general both find a way to lose a game or two they shouldn't every year.

Jimbo is in year 7 with top 10 recruiting classes and no one in their right mind picked FSU to win this weekend. Thumped by Saban, will show flashes but likely finish around 9-3 with loses to Clemson and some team he has no business losing too. Again, that's what we just fired.

I think O could turn Ole Miss around. He's been so spectacular here, I mean 100% win percentage here at LSU as full time head coach. That's unheard of for anyone at any school.

I think it would be very selfish of us to hold that type of greatness back. Orgeron needs to go back to Ole Miss and erase that one blemish on his coaching record. He turns Ole Miss into national champs, that's rareified air type of stuff right there. He's right there with Saban, Bryant, McKay you name it.

Didn't realize Jimbo made those special teams errors deep in their own territory...

Jimbo is not an innovator, nor a qb coaching guru. He does well when the right qb shows up, and that is rare. Someone asked if it was Jimbo's fault his qb got hurt. No. Its his fault for not having #2 ready to play.
