Dude, cops aren't lawyers.

They don't know shite about the the actual law...they just know police code and procedure - it's the other end that has to clean up their mess regarding the 4th amendment.

You're absolutely right but as a cop you would think he'd have a passing awareness of the importance of maintaining a proper chain of evidence.

Oh they were quite aware. Watch the longer video. A second cop questions/ lectures her while she is sitting in the car. She explains to him that the patient has been given something (drugs) to make him more comfortable. As she said, drawing blood was pointless because the hospital and likely the emt's introduced drugs into his system. You can then hear him start talking about civil litigation and how it would be sorted out there. It's all bullshite. These bastards were trying to railroad the patient in any future civil action against the dept because he was injured as a result of the police depts high speed chase. If anyone thinks drugs of any kind in his system wouldn't be used against him in any civil action he brought against the dept, they are a fool. They would have made that guy hire all kinds of experts to prove those drugs were the result of his hospital stay, and not there due to recreational drug use.

You would think...especially after revelations of the OJ trial...but that's a major assumption.

I mean getting back to OJ, we're talking the mentality where cops - who took OJ's blood and instead of booking it immediately into evidence (Vannatter) put it in his pocket and drove to the crime scene with it, and then across town to another lead and at the end of the day when he got to the police station, he just put it on his desk and went out to dinner.

So apparently, no lesson has really been learned regarding evidence.

Or maybe some people have the ability to view events and make judgements based on the circumstances and not the racial or ethnic identity involved.

For instance, refusing to draw blood on a patient despite police order when it result in a Constitutional violation = good

Point a gun at someone, resisting arrest four times, attempting to pull a gun on police = bad.

Yeah. The 2nd cop was just as bad. He was running pyche ops on this lady basically telling her that we can do whatever we want and that you stupid policy can't stop us. I about threw up when he said "this place is known for doing this all the time. Your hospitals policy is in conflict with MY law."

Mother fricker said "my law."

Easy there, comrade.

Are you sure you didn't miss your calling as a Salt Lake City police officer?

Years ago, I heard some old motherfricker, town marshal or something, utter the words, "I'm the law over in Chatham".

The arresting cop needs to go to jail. The others need to be fired.

But. Side note.

What kind of fricktard LISTENS to a supervisor instruct their employee that they can't do something and then arrests the EMPLOYEE for not doing it?

Even had the cop been legally correct, that's just painfully stupid.

Negative. Admins would have had to step in to get me to stop. It's the cops problem if his sample didn't hold up in court.

Or I would have made sure to be "bust with another critical patient".

I've drawn countless samples on drunks for DPS in years past.

Guy was a critical unconscious probably intubated patient. Probably had extra vials of his blood laying around.

I am in NO WAY defending that cop. That nurse did absolutely make a mountain of a mole hill though.

I don't think he even cared about the blood at that point.

It became simply Contempt of Cop arrest.

She defied him and he was going to put her in her place.

As the video shows, she was handcuffed and put in the cruiser for about 20 minutes...like a time-out to teach her a lesson for defying a cop...and then of course, he had to realistically release her - he couldn't take her to the station and try to book her...but he could embarass and false imprison her.

She was literally on the phone with her admin that was explaining why she couldn't do it.

This cop hasn't even been suspended.

The hospital ought to ban the cop from the grounds except for emergencies to protect their employees. He comes in with an ambulance or not at all.
