Yes, they moved it from Canal to Lafayette Square. There is an explanation why it was moved on a plaque by the statute.

The Henry Clay statue was the "meeting point" for most public gatherings prior to it's removal.

It is amazing the amount of labor we put into our architecture when we had free labor. Very beautiful.
