FYI, the tallest RB in the NFL is Brandon Jacobs at 6'4. Steven Jackson was 6'3. Eric Dickerson was 6'3 as well. I'm sure there was others

Curious why I would get downvoted for this. Those were some pretty good backs.

Because Joiner may still grow taller. And if he does, he may grow out of the RB position. This was subject of an article and many posts here in the past.

That's prob why.

Haha. Yeah. Jilted lovers!

I've got an even more amusing scenario.

Stevens tears it up at slot this year, but decides he's going back to safety for 2018 (likely).

Bolden has a monster year at WM and LSU continues to recruit him. He sees what he can do as a slot receiver at LSU and flips his commitment.

The recruiting board would be a very interesting place for quite some time.

If that happens he can always move to TE or H back

Correct... and does not mean we stop recruiting him. But he supposedly says he wants to be RB first and foremost, if possible.

They told him Curry was a fullback? What a crock ... that statement right there actually just ruins the whole article.

Wish they would just go after the JUCO Bama Transfer BJ Emmons and focus on locking up the 2019 guys.

Agreed.
I am ok with Curry and Provens then take 2 or 3 again next year.

The 2019 rb crop is better than 2018.

I know he had said that in the spring and early summer, and this latest article makes it seem like that's still the case, but back when he put out his top 6, he said he was definitely open to other positions and playing RB wasn't as important as it had been. IDK. Who knows what to believe with this kid.

Maybe he'll end up at TE/H Back. Looking at Canada's offense at Pitt, those guys get a lot of carries and Joiner would be pretty devastating in that role (shovel passes, end arounds, etc.)

Provens is NOT an SEC back at this time, and probably wouldn't be for 2 years. In the meantime, the 2018 RB situation will be thin and except for CEH, less talented. Joiner and Curry can step in right away for playing time.

Haven't we learned about accepting the bird in the hand?

I get the idea behind laughing.... but theyve put a few players in league. Obviously you would expect us to hold the edge, but I wouldnt laugh at that idea.

"One is really a fullback" and "He told me he offered one back, but that he was really nothing compared to me" . That's stupid as hell for Robinson to be telling him that and not telling him to now keep a lid on your damn mouth, kid. If Curry catches wind of these comments, I will not be surprised when he says bye-bye LSU.

also this kid seems pretty hot on getting to the NFL as fast as possible when he should be more concerned with helping LSU win a title, becoming a solid RB in the SEC (No small feat) and getting a good education knowing that he'll be there for 3 years, there is no fast route to the NFL. And I got news for him, he won't be dominating as a runner at LSU like he thinks, not with Mr Helaire there. Lol

Give me Curry and Joiner at RB this year then Tyrion, Emory and swing for the fences with Cain next year and we're straight for a while

It just mentioned in the article that Provens will be more of an Athlete, used as a WR, or in that hybrid roll. Who knows he may grow into a real RB but you're correct in stating he's not an SEC back. But that's not what he's coming to play. However he does fit the roll that LSU is recruiting him to play.

He's a very talented guy in his own right. His quickness, cutting ability, and vision are all better than average. He can also catch out of the backfield or downfield, good hands and route running. He's pretty damn good IMO. Have you seen any of his film? Or are you simply commenting based on where he's ranked at this time?

CEH less talented ,I don't know about that, why don't you go ask some current LSU defenders on how less talented CEH is

I said, "Except for CEH" the group returning next year will be less talented than in the past.

I think Provens does have talent, but he's not a pounder. At 175 lbs, he's not even built like CEH is at this time. Perhaps he can put on 20 lbs ala Brennan before his freshman season, but I doubt it.

So to my point... who are the pounder backs to compliment our speed, quickness backs? Brosette, Curry, Ducre? I've been waiting for Ducre to prove something. I'm not sure he'll be back next year unless he significantly improves. Joiner with his size will make his mark his freshman year, at the very least, as a frequent backup to Brosette.

Kamara played in the sec. Not every RB needs to weigh 230 and run slowly up the middle every play like Miles wanted.

Joiner sounds like he has a horrendous spoiled attitude and he's really making Robinson look bad in that article. Spiegelman getting another boycott of lsu lined up.

I just don't like the idea of 3 rbs and 2 te in this class with the other needs that we have.

I actually like Curry better than I do Joiner
