GF and I planning a trip to London in November. I haven't been to London in about 20 years. Last time there stayed at the Sherlock Holmes Hotel on Baker Street, and found it to be a good value, but I wonder if anyone has other suggestions.

We, of course, want the impossible. Location, great accommodations and cheap.

Any recommendations.

TIA

It would probably help if you posted an actual price range. I would also point out that London Mid-range prices are not the same mid range prices as most cities.

I'd consider London "mid-priced" hotels as $250-400. I'm no London expert, but its pretty tough to find anything under $250 anywhere close to down town that is decent.

I had a lot of luck with Airbnb's, I don't know how comfortable you are with that but we stayed in what I'd consider an average London flat in the Bayswater/ North Hyde Park area this June for 4 nights for $800 total. It was a 1 bedroom/ 1 bonus room also. So you could find some smaller/ cheaper flats fairly easy.

What is mid-priced to you? What price range in dollar value? (This seems to be a common lack of detail on this board lately)

Mid-range is subjective but my wife and I stayed in the Hilton Green Park last October and averaged just under 200 GBP per night over 10 nights. Great location in Mayfair and is close to the Green Park tube station.

Theres a few hotels around Russell Square ive stayed in. Pretty cheap too, like $150 a night. Nothing great about it, clean enough tho. Best part about it is location for that price.

You may want to look at Expedia for the flight/hotel bundle deals if you haven't booked a flight already.

I haven't stayed in one yet, but several people have recommended Premier Inn to me as a quite decent chain hotel.

Whether it qualifies as "great accommodations" for you, I have no idea, but it can't hurt to look into it.

One big thing is that they have central air in the rooms!

On my last trip we stayed at a couple of places, but of those I'd recommend the Conrad.

Hotel indigo in kennsington (west london) awesome place great location the earls court station is only 2blocks away and that is a crossover for all the tube lines you can get to any line in the city in that station.
There's a pub on the corner and and the hotel has a very good breakfast. The rooms and baths are larger than most European hotels

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Bayswater and was very pleased. Close access to two tube stations, usually no more than one transfer in the tube, Hyde Park right across the street, very reasonable price

Apex Temple Court on The Strand. I've stayed there a few times. It is pretty nice and you'll have plenty of beer money left over.

Nadler Soho.

About $279 per night. Cool boutique hotel in the middle of Soho.

And there's a Pret nearby for a cheap breakfast.
