Not a ton of practice highlights for the Saints on Day 1 since they ran mostly base drills in a non-padded session. Rookie cornerback Marshon Lattimore (who worked with the second string) had a nice PBU vs. receiver Michael Thomas in 7-on-7 drills and stripped the ball away from fullback John Kuhn at the end of a play down the field. He's another rookie the Saints would love to earn a starting job. ... Veteran safety Rafael Bush had an interception on a tipped pass from backup QB Chase Daniel.

More than any other position, the LB positioning means nothing early in camp.

They will experiment with about a million combinations.

@MikeTriplett: #Saints Sean Payton praises 3rdyear LB Stephone Anthony for his summer so far, anxious to see how he looks at WLB, thought he had good Day 1...

Anthony gets so much shite, and it's probably earned for the most part. I'm really pulling for him.

I was 100% an Anthony guy during draft and we got him. I hope he turns the corner too. The Ellerbe release directly was a play off of how the Saints must feel about Anthony now and maybe the options behind him with Robertson etc.

Klein can play all 3lb spots right?while I think Te'o is a strict MLB? more about seeing if Te'o can be that signal caller imo

I mean if Anthony can play WLB that would be amazing.

But wasn't the rap that he was too dumb to play SAM? WLB has a lot more responsibilities I would think.

Analzone comes in on blitz packages. Backdoor terror.

I think his whole problem is that we want him to play all 3 positions when he only played MLB in College and his first year here. Its no different than having Peat bounce around along the offensive line. It stalls progress. Having him at weakside just means they are seeing what they have in him. In 2 weeks they should have a good idea on where to put to keep him.

Yup. Not only position but also depth.

I will say it's curious they are trying Anthony at Will but I think he could make some plays from that spot.

Sam puts him where he doesn't seem to be effective enough, and he apparently can't grasp the playbook enough to be Mike.

We'll see where they are really wanting to put guys come the first preseason game. Until then it's going to be a ton of mix and match.

Yeah Klein can play all 3 but I think he's better suited for Mike or Sam.

T'eo said all he's ever played is Mike so to see them give him a look at that spot first is no surprise. I imagine tomorrow he rotates to second string Mike and either Robertson or Klein tries first string Mike.

That was for Mike and it was because he wasn't grasping the playbook, not because he is dumb.

They tried him at Sam, but Sam backers are lucky if they get on the field for 33% of the plays over the year combined. And with his style he isn't really suited for Sam. He plays better with some space then lined up tighter to the line.

That's gotta be the worst linebacking corps in the NFL by a large margin
