Mail service slowly breaking down in NOLA?

I thought the gaps in my mail service -- not getting anything at least twice a week -- in Gentilly were just normal fluctuations in daily volumes -- UNTIL I SAW THESE STORIES about spotty delivery in one of the city's premier/wealthiest 'hoods, nearby:
1) "Lakeview neighbors want something done about chronic mail delays": LINK
2) "Lakeview residents fed up with U.S. Postal Service": LINK
Apparently, the indolence and impotence we have come to expect from city/state services are now infecting the quasi-governmental U.S. Postal Service as temperature gauges hit 94+. Where do they all go to hide in their white trucks when they are supposed to be delivering?
The irony here is that this melanin-challenged whitey, who has been unemployed for months now, would love a postal job but can't seem to even get an interview or testing date. I wouldn't mind walking in the heat and getting paid for it.
A few years back, I was awaiting a certified-delivery package and following it via tracking number. The postal truck pulled up to deliver to my condo complex on the lakefront. I waited for the knock on my third-floor unit door, only to see the postal worker getting back into her truck, my package undelivered. I ran down to flag her. She told me, "Whoooo, I saw that third-floor address and just couldn't climb those steps." Never mind that the complex has an elevator -- and that delivering packages is her job. She never even bothered to look for the elevator -- just gonna force me to drive to the post office the next day. Imagine if these had been vital medical supplies. Rapidly souring on this "culture."

I sent three certified return receipt mail from Denham Springs to NOLA on 7/7/2017, and two of the packages still haven't been delivered. At this point, I've already emailed the documents and stuff but it's damn comical.

NO mail has always been kind of a crapshoot.

Kind of hard to get packages emailed to you and, unfortunately, Amazon loves to contract out to USPS.

The 9th ward/Bywater mail saga is hilarious.
I think it has been going on for a few years

It definitely includes packages as well. For the two years I lived in Lakeview I've had packages thrown at the door because the mailman just couldn't be bothered to walk up the three steps to the porch. That was just the ones that did make it, I've had some end up somehow lost.
It got bad enough that I decided to have my stuff shipped to my parent's house 60 miles away and just pick it up from there on the weekend.

I've always ordered shite with Amazon prime, which has never been a problem as long as they were using FedEx and UPS. A few weeks back I ordered cat litter, and they shipped it via USPS. Got a notice on my door that said "heavy" and instructed me to go to the post office to pick it up. Was a 20lb package.

In Ascension they just sit in the truck and sound the horn for you to come out.

I live in Lakeview and get mail everyday. People have been bitching about it on Nextdoor for months.

Delivery in River Ridge has been iffy lately too.
In the last year a postal worker there got his 3rd DWI, and 2nd in his mail truck.

This is the exact reason I send all my packages to my parents' house in Kenner.
Tracked my package once as it was upposed to be delivered that day. Got a text saying that the "delivery area was inaccessible", which is my front door. The package was sent back to post office. I haul arse to the post office next to Lafayette Square on a Friday. Since it's in a federal building, I have to go through security making it more of a pain in the arse. Worker there tells me that that message is some sort of glitch and that the package is still out for delivery. Nothing arrives that day, and I have to wait until Monday for them to bring it to me.
Fck USPS...... especially in New Orleans. And btw, my normal mail person never has a USPS uniform on, so they look like some random person walking up to everyone's house.

I'm about to uninstall it.
"URGENT : They are shooting fireworks again!"
They had a lunatic the other night who wrote a story about how she attacked a criminal in her yard and left him bloody and in critical condition.

Sporadic mail service is not confined to the N.O. area. I live in B.R. and delivery on 3-4 days per week is the norm in my residential neighborhood. I have complained to USPS with limited success.
