Pretty sure Huey P had them built because the legislature wouldn't give him money for a stadium, but they would for dorms. So, he had the dorms built and put bleachers on the backside with a field.
A myth.

I hope they plan on covering up the underside of the ramp. The exposed pipes underneath looks really bad.

Are you for real? You're actually complaining about exposed plumbing pipes?
You have already stated that people that spend money on tickets are wasting their time and money and being so called "pump lumps" and also that holding LSU athletics as something sacred is another waste of time but you bitch about exposed pipes.
I go to games to enjoy them and hold them as a special occasion. While the architectural design might leave something to be desired, it's plumbing is hardly on my mind when I'm there for 8 games of the year.
Does everything revolve around you in Erra? Grow the frick up.

Cool i guess, but overall the design of the south upper is so incredibly awful that it still gives me nightmares

Tiger stadium is nice and unique. They going to make it look really good right there I promise. I'm glad they tore it out and are going to replace it with some new stuff. Beer garden and other amenities. Some people are just going to bitch no matter what, I've learned that. frick em.

I agree. I'm there every year. My point is all this guy does is rip the ticket holders, the fans, the players, the stadium, the coaches, the roads, basically everything about LSU. The guy sucks.
Having a different opinion about something is one thing, what he posts is something different.

A myth
According to LSUSports.net:
quote:
Tiger Stadium is unique in that it once housed some 1,500 dorm rooms, home to many LSU students over the years. This concept was introduced in 1928 by T.P. "Skipper" Heard, who can also be credited for bringing night football to Tiger Stadium. Heard learned that LSU president James Smith proposed to use $250,000 to build new dormitories on the LSU campus. Heard sold Smith on the idea of raising the stands on both the East and West sides of the stadium and extending them to the end zones, then constructing the dorms inside the stadium. Thus the University got its dorms and Tiger Stadium's capacity increased by 10,000 seats in 1931.

The south end zone addition is horrific. The bathrooms on top look like they were like "oh frick I knew we forgot something"

The entire thing isn't horrific. I agree that I don't like the cinderblocks up top nor the the lego looking structure that houses the elevators with a huge wall of nothing. Too bad these weren't incorporated better. But didn't Alleva possibly mention something being done to address the structures at top?

No, it isn't. It's a vast improvement in looks...
Before
After
...and it raises the bar for stadium additions by combining general, club, and suite seating like never before.
The fans who sit in the general seats up top are six rows away from restrooms and concessions. They can still see the game below while standing in line at a concession stand.
Compare our addition with some recent ones...
Tiger Stadium
Bryant-Denny
Kyle Field
Most of Alabama and TAMU's additions feature bench seats in an ocean of concrete, with few exits, and long hikes to restrooms and concessions. That's old school.
And let's not forget the back of Kyle Field's new end zone upper deck looks like this: erector set...
From the stand point of form and function, fan comfort and convenience, and revenue generation LSU hit a home run.

So what's your point?
I said the "myth" was HPL outfoxing the state legislature for the funds. Nothing you posted here contradicts that.
I was about to post that you're either illiterate or just plain stupid, but since they go hand-in-hand, you're no doubt both.

Not sure why they keep putting lipstick on that pig of a Natatorium. Unless they are doing some roof repair work, no more money should be spent there. Tear it down and build something aesthetically pleasing for that side of campus. Across the street is a multimillion dollar development being constructed and will serve as the entryway into campus, and we have this turd facing it. Bernie Moore grandstands could use a facelift as well- they should at least build a facade on it that matches the other architecture.

I've been thinking that the big white wall is the perfect opportunity for marketing to put up a huge vinyl graphic. Would be awesome. Maybe the schedule or something... The football poster hella enlarged. idk it just seems like a great billboard opportunity for something awesome.

Not a bad idea. My preference would be faux windows that continue the look of the rest of the addition.

They could also do a vinyl graphic on the black windows right there in your pic. Cover the whole thing with a badass Derrius Guice pic. It's a better location for people to see other than the back of the addition.

Sad to see the history from tiger stadium be removed. The fact our stadium was a dorm made it uniquely different from everyone else. I've always thought LSU could make a fortune leasing those out as crash pads for alumni. It could be awesome.
