Best color commentators? not play-by-play.

Who are some of the best/entertaining color guys that have been in sports? Whether best all time or just some you like. Any sport, any region, I would just like to learn more about some good ones.

I really like Bob Brenly. Was with the Cubs for a while, now is the DBacks color guy. Sucks he is partnered with Steve Berthuiame.

Jim Deshaies has always been one of my favorites.
ETA: Definitely NOT Hawk Harrelson.

Herbstreit or Blackledge for CFB.

Magic Johnson when he provided color for NBC in the early 90s bc it always seemed as if he was eating a bologna sandwich when speaking and always remarking about "winnin time," it was simply hilarious

I really liked Mike Mayock. Blackledge and Herbstriet for CFB.
Aikman and Collinsworth for NFL.

Colinsworth and Michaels are as good as it gets right now. I find myself watching SNF for their commentary even if I'm not a fan of either team.
I also think Aikman does a great job. Love Todd Blackledge for CFB, not a fan of Herbstreit. I also think John Smoltz does a great job of providing insight to MLB games.

I love the Michaels/Collinsworth duo on SNF. Best color AND PBP commentators in the game today by a mile.
Also enjoy Herbie, Blackledge, Smoltz, and usually JVG

For CFB I think Brock Huard is fantastic. I think Joe Micheletti and Fran Fraschilla are really good as well.

I like Steve Sparks a lot.
He serves as the Astros Radio Network color commentator.

My go-to guys are Charles Davis, Mike Mayock, Joel Klatt, and Todd Blackledge. NBA it's probably Doug Collins and Brent Barry. NFL is tough because there really isn't any strong commentators, guess I'd have to with Collinsworth.
Honestly I like guys that aren't afraid to talk technical. I feel like guys who try to dumb it down makes them come off as they have no clue what they're talking about. Break the game down like it's supposed to. Use the complex terminology, if I don't understand it, it'll intrigue me to go research and learn the concept which immerses you in the game even closer.

I have always enjoyed the SF Giants TV personalities. If I have to distinguish the two, Kuiper is probably play-by-play and Krukow is color. They are incredibly entertaining even when the Giants suck, as they do now.

Blackledge and of course the GOAT... Bill Walton

Best? Hard to say, but my favorites, in no particular order, are Collinsworth, Deshaies, Madden, Danielson, and Doug Moreau (LSU Radio for the non-Tigers).
Worst? That is an easy one. I have been watching sports for close to 40 years and there has only been one color guy that I passionately hated to the point where I would hit "mute" or change the channel and his name is Tim McCarver. I hated everything about him, from his horrible jokes to him talking the viewers about baseball like they are 9 years old.
I also grew to strongly dislike Joe Morgan too. But McCarver is the only announcer who truly rustled my jimmies
