Help me pick a golf ball

I just started playing again from a 12 year hiatus. Shooting in the low 90's now. Hope to improve to low 80's from years ago.
Looking for a decent mid season rang ball. Been hitting just whatever I could find for fairly cheap but want a ball to stick with for a while.
I used to like the Maxfli revolutions and found some for cheap. are they discontinued? Looks like they only have used in Amazon.

I have a buddy playing the "vice" balls. Seem like consistent balls that don't cost a fourtune.
Other than that..
Precept Laddie is my favorite non-tour ball.

How fast do you swing? If you don't know what would be a good drive in the air for you? I'm assuming you aren't swinging over 105 mph with your driver so a good ball for you would be a Bridgestone E5 or something similar.

Snell's are great balls for the money.

Got a buddy that uses these. They're actually a "lady's" low compression ball that they renamed because so many men were using them. Wonder if they're legal for tournament play?

Until you get your index under a 12 play whatever you get a deal on. If money doesn't matter play high end brands. Most high handicappers I know play a distance ball. It also may depend on the condition the course is in. Hard as a rock course choose a softer ball, etc. If you start shooting mid 70's then play a consistent ball but if you can't break 80, the ball won't make that much of a difference. Just MHO,

What do you think is an acceptable price for you to spend on a dozen balls? That'll help.

Srixon Q-Star Tour.
Even with your higher than average swing speed, this ball should check all the boxes at $30/dozen.

Index above 12 means mishits, which usually means playing a premium tour/high spin ball is a bad idea, so the ball certainly can make a difference. I am a terrible golfer, usually play titleist reloads. If I'm buying new I'll get something like a Bridgestone E6 - lower spinning and soft feel.
ETA: actually, I think if your consistently playing to a 15ish handicap, you'd see benefits from playing premium balls. Really just depends on swing speed, how much spin you like, and the feel.

Go to academy and get the big box (50-100) of shitty balls. Also buy a 12-18 back of the reloads in titleist or Calloway.
When you play like shite, use the shite balls. When you are playing well, use the better balls.

If this is the case you have pretty good swing speed. You really can play anything. If you have a lot of spin or are prone to a really bad mishit you will want to play a lower spin ball. You still could play the tour balls like the proV1x or B330 though if you wanted to. There's no way to really say what would be best without more info.

Why not just get some el cheapos at your local shop? Mine sells em for 5 bucks a dozen. Can find some good gems if you've got somewhere similar.

Smells MTB perform very similarly to prov1x but at a fraction of the cost ($32/doz includes shipping)
I bought some Snell MTBs after learning about them on this board. I like em.
I bought two dozen "near mint" for $38.95 off ebay.
