So I got woken up at 2:30 am Tuesday morning with stomach pains and couldn't get back to sleep.

At 9:00 am the pain was worse and localized to my lower right side, typical Appendicitis symptoms.
I drove to the ER to get checked out.

I was in and out of surgery in time to watch the CWS.

I've been home for a couple of days and the discomfort is waning. No fever, my appetite is good.

Here is my question, while I'm passing enough gas to inflate a fleet of zeppelins, still no poop. I'm hopeful I can unload today.

Is this normal?

It's normal. Usually takes 3-5 days. As long as you're passing gas you're fine.

And it sounds like you're on the normal course for pain. Day after you usually feel like you got run over. By day 3 or 4, you feel like you can get back to normal stuff, but tire easily

Took me about 2 days to recover from mine. If you're still hurting by Monday, go to your doc

They should have prescribed a stool softener for you to take or recommended an OTC to buy before you were discharged from the hospital. Pain meds cause constipation.

Also.....make sure you aren't just laying around all day. Need to be up and walking around. Better for your recovery and will help get your bowels moving and prevent intense gas pain. Stay within your activity restrictions from your surgeon though.

When I had laparoscopic surgery, the last thing I wanted to do was go to the bathroom. I didn't want to do anything that would strain my abdominal muscles. Hurt like hell to breathe deep or laugh

Opioid induced constipation. Some OTC stool softeners should help

Had open appendectomy a long time ago. Sucked for at least a couple of weeks.

Had laparoscopic cholecystectomy more recently. Piece of cake.
