But it originated with BuzzFeed.

Not that video but she WAS a UofA student at the time, she WAS denied counseling by one UofA employee and the parents HAVE named UofA in the lawsuit. So like it or not UofA is involved.

I don't doubt that Bunn did it. That family is white trash with money.

But the Buzzfeed article certainly did ignore, or outright falsify, several key points, including their insinuation that she was denied assistance at the counselling center, which was patently untrue. They also neglected to mention that she had a UA advocate at her side when she went to the emergency room.

Do the university, local health care, and law enforcement need to take a hard look at their policies and procedures? Absolutely. Is this case similar to Baylor in any other aspect than the fact that it involves a female student who was violated sexually? No.

I automatically take anything from Buzzfeed with a grain of salt and healthy skepticism. They clearly would love to take down a major football program and school from the south.

That being said, if there is evidence to prove that this girl was raped and/or the school had anything to do with a cover up, they should face a jury. But I don't see it here.

Originated with a rape coverup.

UA has stated that the first counselor had to recuse herself because she knew the family (I am assuming it was a woman) but they immediately put her in touch with another one. I am sure that was depressing to her given all the runaround bullshite with the PD, but I just don't see how UA is at fault. Maybe it will come out that they did do something horrible, but at this point all of that is just rampant speculation.

- and as someone said another counselor was with her at the hospital.

The stories origin frankly is irrelevant.

It's a story, one that has identified apparently yet another case of a rich person acting with impunity.

A grand jury did not find sufficient evidence to go to court. This doesn't mean no crime was committed, and certainly seems to indicate a hospital and the police failed miserably.

If it were my daughter sweet T would be a dead man the instant I got the chance.

No she wasn't. She was simply referred to another counselor who had no connection to anyone involved. The Buzzfeed story conveniently omitted that fact.

While that may be the case, that still isn't evidence to prove the University wide cover-up that you seem to believe occurred.

he article in the OP is using statistics from the city of Tuscaloosa as a whole.

Really, Is there anything else there?
or
Is UofA surrounded by a sea of rape?

Having a counsellor recuse themselves as they should is not denying them counseling.

Even you're not a big enough moron not to get that.

They were provided another, who did assist them.

I don't know him personally, but I've had dealings with his mother and my in-laws know his dad and uncle and that house is down the street from some of my wife's family and about 2 miles from me, right now.

The Bunns are the kind of people who refuse to maintain the rock guards on their dump trucks or install nets to cover their gravel loads, but put big signs on the back of their trucks that say they aren't responsible for cracked windshields...

Yep, there are some pretty rough areas surrounding the campus and general Tuscaloosa area in addition to some very nice areas.

A university typically cannot operate in isolation given that they need a wide variety of employees and services to operate.

- all of this unnecessary back and forth about the university is really distracting from the actual potential issues which this case is indicative of.

That makes them sound like assholes, but that doesn't tell me they're capable of rape. Do they have a history of violent crime or reports of them?

That's the truth. I went a lot of years driving without a single crack. Since moving here we've had 3 windshields that have needed replacing.
