BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:45 A.M.) – A heroic Iraqi police officer saved dozens of lives in the Babel Governorate, today, after a would-be suicide bomber attempted to enter a mosque in the Musayeb District.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, the unnamed police officer hugged the suicide bomber before he could enter the mosque in the Al-Musayeb; this would obstruct the terrorist’s path.
The Ministry of Defense added that the police officer was killed after the suicide bomber detonated his belt – no other casualties were reported.

I read this earlier on reddit, I think.
This man is the definition of a HERO. My prayers to his family. May this man never be forgotten.

It's getting a little dusty in here.

You won't get the responses here you are halfway hoping for.

In their unspeakable grief, may this man's family find comfort in knowing that they raised the best of the best.
Today the Iraqi police force can be proud.

I wonder which one of them gets the 21 virgins?

More lives would have been saved long term if the bomber would have succeeded in his mosque bombing goal.

Build a monument for that guy as big as the old Saddam Hussein statue. Take care of his family. Where is the GoFundMe?

I am always interested in the type of person who can do this.
We all like to think we have it in us but there's no way to know unless placed in that situation.
Most of us are wrong.

Gutsy by the police officer, I just have to point out there is no "would be" about it.

Hopefully God rewards that officer with 72 virgins just for the ironic lulz and because he deserves it

Build him a statue. These are the Iraqi's that future generations should be idolizing.

This is the kind of brave action normally only seen in military operations = jumping on a grenade = calling in artillery strikes on your own position, etc.
But it is really rare in normal police operations. Words cannot express the degree of admiration and respect due to someone who willingly gives his life to save others.
unbelievable = highest honors
