Inspired by the Kennedy rumor.

Generally curious. I'm one of the few liberals that peruses this board, though I rarely post because most threads are "can you libs honestly answer this..." followed by mostly ad hominem attacks on how we are all losers, weak, etc.

This board has always been hard right, but tends to incorporate a lot of libertarian thought. Just curious if that means you all think abortion should be illegal.

Reason I ask is most of you also seems generally sour on the war on drugs and/or other federal level criminal justice endeavors. I feel like many of you even would argue for a highly decriminalized drug policy due to its being ineffective. Chances are criminalizing abortion would be similarly challenging.

Are any of you for making abortion legal due to political reasons, or is it all moral/religious?

Yes, I'm anti-murder. Anyone who's ever brought home the video from that first 16 week ultrasound knows it's murder, too ....or should know.

Prolife morally.

Prochoice legally with the caveat I want to reduce federal funding for such endeavors.

It shouldn't be illegal but my money shouldn't go towards it.

I acknowledge that abortion would still happen if it was illegal, but it's more about the government recognizing it or not.

In reality, all law is based on morality

not a bad question and great premise for a thread. I for one think that abortion is tragic, and sad, and a horrible thing (I consider it killing a human being- in some cases the same as murder if you will). That said, I can see it as justified in certain circumstances (rape chiefly among them along with situations where the mother's life is in danger), and thus don't think there should be a blanket prohibition on it. The decision, though extremely difficult, should be that of the parent (mother) or parents. So, while I'm decidedly "anti-abortion", I do not support overturning Roe vs Wade.....

Nope. I'm pro saving taxpayers money. And poor people have more abortions than rich people, therefore I support any measure that stems the birthrate of poors.

Prolife personally. I would never encourage my wife to have an abortion unless she was raped/was going to die herself. At that point I would actually encourage the shite out of her to have one, and she probably would.

I don't think it should be illegal though, but then again I don't have a lot of empathy for people/humanity so if people want to have abortions, then go ahead. There's to many damn people in this world as it is.

I'm pro choice.

I'd rather these trash get an abortion than continue to populate the earth with more worthless welfare-sucking little shits. It's the lesser of two evils.

Ideally they would be better at using birth control methods but that doesn't seem to happen in reality.

I can understand having a religious or moral objection to it and that's why I don't think it should be funded with tax dollars.

Zero tax money should be spent on abortions. Let pro-choice folks donate their own $$ to these places since they're so supportive of it. Liberals are all "smart" which means they must all also be wealthy. They don't believe in God, so they need somewhere to get their 501c3 tax deductions.

Let them pay for it if they insist on killing babies.

this is just a horrible way to view fellow humans.

The 20th century is an example of what happens when it becomes accepted that some people are "worthless". You see the gulags and the gas chambers spring up.

This is a very interesting line of thinking to me, sociologically. I too find abortion to be abhorrent as an actual practice, though I would more strongly argue for a woman's right to choose. I don't really feel like there are many who would argue "yay, abortion, the more the better," it's generally viewed as unpleasant at best. Yet, we end up in the same place in the debate.

So my follow up question is, should this issue still be so dominant in conservative politics? Would their constituents actually want to overturn it?

IMO, unless the mother's life is in jeopardy, abortion should be illegal.

A new individual is created at conception--the moment a sperm merges with a fertile egg.
Ending that life is killing a baby ... something I find to be abhorrent.
My answer to your question is, yes.

Emotionally there is something about abortion that truly disturbs me to no end. Not anger, but sadness and the spirit of quitting.

I will never, ever understand the thought process of a woman wishing to end the life of their child in development. It makes my stomach turn and makes me ill. Maybe it is all the whistleblowers that have come out with images and other means of footage about what goes on, I don't know.

My dad is pro-abortion along with my sister..

As the other poster said, it is murder. We already have laws on the books for it.

It seems the only argument that can be rendered is that the child isn't human yet until it is born. That is about all I can come up with. Seems doctors are finding out more and more how much bullshite that truly is too.

Or, that they have no soul until it breathes outside the mothers womb.

I say side on the side of life, but that is me.

Don't look at them as human then. They're parasites and nothing more. The birthrate of poors needs to be culled. If abortion was made illegal, the problems that plague this country would grow exponentially in the coming decades

I'm fine with it legally. I don't think anyone should be forced to pay for it. Planned Parenthood is fine, minus abortions.
