My future wife and I are going to Europe for our honeymoon from Sept 11-24. We have the following planned so far:
-Flying into Zurich and plan on traveling throughout Switzerland for a few days.
-Taking a train to Munich for Oktoberfest that weekend and staying till that Monday
My question is, what would you suggest for the second week of our trip? So far, Lake Como is at the top of our list. Any other suggestions? TIA

Since you are in Munich, I would drive to Salzburg. Wife and I love Salzburg, and also visit nearby Hallstat. Rent a car you get to drive on the Autobahn.
In fact, I will be there Sep. 9-13th.
You can also neuschwanstein castle.

It will be cold during Oktoberfest so bring warm clothes.

Just about one hour south of Munich is Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where Germany sponsored the '36 Winter Olympische. The tallest German Alpine peak (the Zugspitze) is just out of G-P. You can ride a train/tram to the peak. There's also a minor Mad King Ludwig castle (Linderhof Palace) just to the West off the route from Munich.
Back to going to Oktoberfest for a Honeymoon?
Kinda like going to Mardi Gras to me, just never struck me to Honeymoon at either event.
But to each his/her own! Good luck & safe travels.
Germany and Austria are wunderbar!
Congrats & Prost!

I wouldn't do Munich during an Octoberfest weekend, especially on honeymoon. But that's just me. I'm guessing it would be very hard to find accomadation. I know people sleep in campsites and many can't even get into the beer halls or tents after waiting all day. Sounds awful to me.
But Munich is a cool town. Echo what others have said about day tips to Salzburg and Fussen (castles). Look into the Romantic Road as well. I think Octoberfest is a Bavarian celebration, so you might look into finding a small town festival for that.
Get your Alps time in at Switzerland. They have the best scenery and infrastructure imo, plus Swiss cities are a bit boring and overpriced.
You might also consider taking one or both of their famous scenic panoramic trains - Glacier Express and Bernina Express.
Lake Como would be a nice spot for a Honeymoon.

We could easily stay for 2 weeks in Munich and be happy as a clam. So much to see and do! Augustiner Dunkel is our favorite beer there FYI. If you get bored, you could take the train up to Berlin. That's where we are going next year. The cathedral in Cologne is amazing as well.
