Update: On Tuesday afternoon, the New York Times reported (and NBC confirmed) that President Trump asked then-FBI Director James Comey to stop investigating Michael Flynn just after Flynn resigned in February, according to a memo written by just after the conversation happened:

Neither of those articles quote Comey's memo. Kasowich's claim is the NYT article on 5/11 quotes the memo. That is not accurate.
Wrong. He said the article refers to information contained in the memo.

Nope. Count 6 lines up from the bottom of the statement.

Thats pretty damning of Comey. He is accusing Trump of being a liar but he is obviously lying himself. The problem for Comey now is what does his professor friend say when he is questioned about when he leaked the memos to the press. Phone records and emails ironically are going to frick Comey bigly

Comey said he leaked the memo to his friend at Columbia after the 5/12 Trump tweet
This alone logically should have made you question Comey's veracity. Trump tweet was in response to Comey leak. Cause and effect. Comey lied under oath, and leaked an official government document covered under executive privilege because of his personal animosity and political desires!

Don't overstate your case.
It's pretty obvious Comey lied about when he leaked this. No need to overstate the repercussions of it. It likely isn't classified and the "executive privilege" is a throwaway term in this context.

Comey is so fricked. He gave a specific reason and time about the leak of the memos. The record shows his statement was false. It calls into question his credibility for everything he said today.
He also cant come back and say he was mistaken about his reasoning because he left himself no wiggle room.

This Comey lie will be very different than Trump's lies or Sessions lies.

Didn't say it was classified. Said it was a lie, and implied possible perjury. Also wanted to attack Comey's "for the good of America" reason for leaking anti Trump information. He admitted not liking or trusting Trump before meeting him. He admitted Trump did not verbally order him to stop Flynn investigation, and testified to Di Fi that he cannot read Trump's nonverbals. Yet he leaked in an effort to get an independent investigation because he "thinks" Trump's actions were pressure on him. Yet he accepted Obama's AG pressure and complied? No leak for independent investigation?
Now I will proudly admit not to being a lawyer, but how can a private conversation between the president and FBI director in the White House not be covered under executive privileged information? Honest question. Please school me.

He also didn't "leak" any privileged information. Alternative facts and all.
Do you think President Trump asking everyone to leave the room so that he could talk privately with Comey meant President Trump was giving permission to Comey to leak...uh, I mean give the contents of the private conversation to one of Comey's friends?

quote:Yeah, executive privilege is gone once a guy leaves government. That's why John Dean was able to testify to Congress about all his interactions. (That began on June 25, 1973, so Trump's Watergate speedrun is still on pace.)

Comey testified that he gave the memos to a friend BEFORE he was fired. News reports referencing the memos and their contents spoke of two people who were able to verify the reports because they had seen said memos. Rutro lol
